"This year's UK Asian Film Festival features films that are brilliant, funny and joyous, yet also daring and deeply political. They bring astonishing clarity and invention to the screen, offering fresh perspectives on identity, memory, and belonging. From intimate family dramas to fearless new voices in South Asian cinema, our selection captures life in all its complexity. These films remind us that storytelling is not just entertainment – it is a way of seeing each other again. At a moment when division is growing louder across our societies, the festival is an invitation to come together, listen deeply, and rediscover the solidarity that will carry our communities through whatever lies ahead."

Muzaffar Ali is among the guests confirmed to attend this year’s UK Asian Film Festival, which runs from May 1 to 10 at venues across the UK.

World Theatre Day

Sometimes theatre doesn’t need to explain itself.

A body in motion. A hand lifted. A string pulled. And suddenly you see it.

Who is in control.
Who thinks they are.
And who is being moved without a say.

This photo of from puppet dance in choreographed by to lyrics by and music production by looks beautiful but it captures how uncomfortably the world we’re living in is.

Too many people pulling strings who were never should.
Too many lives shaped by decisions made at a distance.

We’re delighted to share that Phizzical’s Arts Council England NPO funding for 2026/27 continues.

At a time when sustained investment in arts and culture matters more than ever, this confirmation from Arts Council England, alongside the wider commitment to the sector from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, represents an important vote of confidence in the value of touring theatre and talent development across the country.

This continued support enables Phizzical to do what we do best: develop artists, tell ambitious new stories that matter to our communities, and tour shows nationally, reaching audiences in towns and cities across England. It allows us to invest in people, nurturing diverse creative talent and ensuring that culturally rich, accessible theatre can be experienced well beyond major metropolitan centres.

As a company rooted in new writing, musical theatre and global British stories, this funding supports both artistic ambition and long-term sustainability, helping us connect with new audiences, including young people, through work that reflects the world we live in.

Lisa Nandy has pledged £1.5bn for cultural organisations by 2030, including £80m of capital investment for Arts Council England-funded companies
