What makes a good neighbour? That’s the conversation that Paula White from BBC Radio had with Heather Thompson, Chair of Cheshire NWA. They talked about the importance of trust, respect and consideration, especially in a more fragmented society.

The conversation is available to listen to on BBC Sounds (scroll to 17.50) https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002x00r

To celebrate Neighbourhood Watch Week and the month of community, we held a Communi-Tea event in our office.
It was so much fun meeting our neighbours, chatting over tea and cake, and learning about the many great charities we share this space with.
Neighbourhood Watch is about bringing people together, building connections, and creating supportive communities.

We've got packs for anyone who wants to host their own Communi-Tea https://bit.ly/4ulFHPF

It's Thank You Friday, and as we near the end of Neighbourhood Watch Week, we wanted to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers.

As a volunteer-led charity, we wouldn't exist without the time and care people give to strengthening their communities.

Whether you've been organising community events, sharing useful information or checking in on neighbours, it all helps build a sense of belonging.

Together we can create places where people feel connected, supported and safer.

Thank you.

Feeling disconnected from your neighbourhood? Maybe that’s your sign

June is the month of community, and it kicks off with Neighbourhood Watch Week and The Big Do with Eden Project Communities

It is all about bringing people closer, building trust, and creating safer, more connected communities.

So why not take that first step? Join a Big Lunch or a Big Help-Out this weekend. A simple get together can spark stronger relationships, reduce isolation, and help everyone feel like they belong.

If there isn’t one near you, you can even host your own Big Do. Find free resources to get started here: https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/the-big-do

Because when neighbours come together, communities thrive.

June is the Month of Community 💛

It’s a chance to celebrate the people that make our communities so special.

All across the UK, people are coming together to say thank you, meet neighbours, support good causes, welcome others in, reduce loneliness, celebrate volunteers, support carers, take action for nature and share food and friendship.

There are events and initiatives happening throughout June, with lots of different ways for you to get stuck in!

Whether you join something big, do something small, or simply bring a few people together where you live, you’ll help build stronger, kinder and more connected communities.

Don’t let the sunshine distract you from keeping your home secure ☀️🔐

Our partner ERA Home Security shares some simple ways to help protect your property while you enjoy the warm weather

🚪Open doors can be an open invitation - try to keep doors closed, even when you’re at home

🪟Need a breath of fresh air? Check whether your windows have ventilation locks; these will let you leave windows slightly ajar, without being opened any further

🏡Install smart door and window sensors, especially on ground floor windows which are easier to access - these will alert you if a window or door is unexpectedly opened

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine 🌞

Neighbourhood Watch probably does a lot more than you might think 💛

We’re about more than just keeping an eye out. We bring people together, help build friendships, and create communities where everyone feels safer, stronger, and supported. From sharing local information and raising awareness to organising activities and looking out for vulnerable neighbours, it all adds up to something powerful: connection.

Our mission is to create places that are connected, active and safe, because we know that stronger communities are safer communities.

Whether you have lots of time or just a little, there’s a place for you. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to care about where you live.

Membership is free – so if you’ve ever thought about doing something for your community, you have nothing to lose and so much to gain.
