🌍 Celebrating International Youth Day — 12 August 🌍
This year's theme, "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations," feels especially fitting as we celebrate the amazing young people at Neighbourhood Watch. Swipe through to meet some of them! ➡️
With support from The National Lottery Community Fund , our Young People's Programme empowers young people aged 16–24 across England and Wales, working across two branches: the Youth Council and Young Change Makers.
👥 Our Youth Council brings together young people who want to make a difference in their community. Their work focuses on crime prevention and building stronger communities, from tackling knife crime and anti-social behaviour to student safety, through events, social media campaigns, and conversations with policymakers.
🌟 Our Young Change Makers have been just as inspiring, helping young people understand what drives crime and safety issues, and building their skills as active, informed citizens.
At York College, our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) asylum-seeker group improved their English, built confidence and leadership by leading their own sessions, and strengthened social cohesion by sharing stories about identity, faith, and belonging.
At the University of East London, international students built public speaking confidence and developed their own project ideas, earning great feedback from university staff.
Different backgrounds, different journeys, but a shared drive to build safer, stronger communities. Today, we celebrate you! 💛
