4½ years ago, I did a Youth Mental Health First Aider course.
I had no idea it was about to change the direction of my life.
It started with me dragging a rug into school and creating a little safe space for my year group.
Then I wrote the first version of a wellbeing journal.
It was homemade. It was basic. And looking back at it now makes me smile.
Because that little journal was the beginning of something much bigger.
I spent the next few years trying to find ways to use wellbeing to actually help people.
I trained in neuroscience. Trauma. Mental health. Wellbeing.
I learned.
I unlearned.
I changed my mind about things.
I changed parts of my own life too.
I created and delivered a wellbeing and self-development programme at HMP Fosse Way.
I kept building my skills.
And eventually, Fin and I founded NEU Community Wellbeing CIC.
Since then, there have been programmes, schools, prisons, communities, workshops, conversations, setbacks, breakthroughs and a LOT of learning.
But through all of it, one thing has stayed the same.
I don’t want wellbeing to be another list of things people should be doing.
I want people to understand themselves.
Their brain.
Their emotions.
Their patterns.
Their environment.
Their relationships.
Their wellbeing.
Not just the theory.
The person.
And now, 4½ years after that first little journal, we have the new NEU Wellbeing Journal and the NEU Wellbeing App.
Both are built around brain science, real life and practical tools people can actually use.
And this is where I need a little favour ❤️
Please can you share them far and wide?
📱 Search NEU Community Wellbeing in the App Store.
If you join the app, use code NEU2026.

Even if it isn’t something you need yourself, sharing it might help it land in front of someone who does.
From a rug, a safe space and a homemade journal… to NEU.
Still learning. Still building. Still trying to make wellbeing actually work for real people.

A practical, brain-informed journal to help you understand your wellbeing, recognise patterns and discover what supports you.
