We want to celebrate the Yorkshire businesses that don’t just do business… they make a difference.✨

Across Yorkshire, there are incredible companies giving their time, raising money, making donations, supporting charities, volunteering, getting their teams involved and using their success to help others.

They may not always shout about it. They may simply see it as something they should do. But we think their efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated.

So, we’re searching for the amazing Yorkshire businesses that are making a real difference to worthy causes.

Charities — nominate the corporate partners who have gone above and beyond to support you.

Companies — nominate yourselves and tell us about your fundraising journey, the causes close to your hearts and the difference you’re helping to make.

Employees — tell us about the fundraising and volunteering you’ve been involved in through your company.

And please don’t forget those incredible donations. Whether your business has raised £100, £1,000 or £100,000, every contribution can make a difference — and we want to hear about it.

Today, we’d like to give a big thank you to the Yorkshire Choice Awards! 🏆

Every year, the Yorkshire Choice Awards celebrate inspiring achievements from across the region, everything from Local Fundraiser of the Year to Yorkshire Entrepreneur of the Year! Each year, the Awards also support a charity, raising funds on the night to benefit good causes in the local community. This year, the chosen charity was Candlelighters. 💚

Thanks to everyone involved, and everyone who gave so generously on the night, the event raised an incredible £19,244 for children and young people with cancer and their families. This amount could fund over 1,100 hours of support from our dedicated Family Support Workers. They provide a lifeline to families, giving practical and emotional support from the moment a family walks through the hospital doors.

Melanie Malcom and Jo Maltby, Directors of the Yorkshire Choice Awards, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have raised £19,244 for Candlelighters, our chosen charity after they won the Yorkshire Choice Awards Charitable Excellence Award 2025. The support for our chosen charity is incredible year after year, and this year was no exception. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us raise such a fantastic amount for Candlelighters and the wonderful work they do.”

And this achievement is made even more special as this year, we celebrate our 50th anniversary, and the Yorkshire Choice Awards celebrates its 10th. 🌟

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re proud to shine a light on the vital support available to families affected by childhood cancer. With no government funding, Candlelighters relies on the generosity of the public to continue providing our services to families across Yorkshire. 🎗️

Last week, we had one of those moments that reminded us exactly why the Yorkshire Choice Awards mean so much to us.

As founders of the awards, we were incredibly proud to visit Candlelighters and present a cheque for £19,244.94, raised through this year’s Yorkshire Choice Awards.

Handing over that cheque was a very special moment, not just because of the amount raised, but because of what that money will mean to families across Yorkshire.

Candlelighters support children and young people with cancer, as well as their families, across Yorkshire. The money raised could fund more than 1,100 hours of support from their Family Support Workers, helping families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

2026 is a particularly special year as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Yorkshire Choice Awards, while Candlelighters marks 50 years of supporting Yorkshire families affected by childhood cancer.

An amount like this is never raised by just one person or one organisation. Our sponsors, nominees, finalists, winners, guests, supporters and everyone who donated all played a part.

We are incredibly proud of the Yorkshire community and of what can be achieved when people come together to support one another.

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise £19,244.94, and to the incredible team at Candlelighters for the extraordinary work you continue to do.
