A little something to say thank you 💜

As we round up Volunteers Week, we wanted to say thank you to Sally for the dedication and enthusiasm she brings to our Rothwell shop. And what better way than a St Gemma's Hamper!

Reflecting on her volunteering experience, Sally shared:

"The team at Rothwell are like an extended family. Everyone really cares, we look out for each other, and I don't want to miss a day."

She also said, “Being here has helped me through my grief, I feel like I’m making a difference and I can highly recommend volunteering for St Gemma’s.”

We're incredibly grateful to Sally and all of our wonderful volunteers, whose support helps make a real difference every day.

Today’s the day!

Join us at Leeds Markets today, Saturday 6th June, to find out more about volunteering with St Gemma’s Hospice.

Whether you’re completely new to volunteering or looking for something flexible that fits around your life, we’d love to meet you, answer your questions, and chat about how your skills could make a real difference.

You can also get involved on the day by helping to create eco-friendly bunting for our upcoming summer events. No experience needed, and all materials will be provided.

Drop in anytime between 12–4pm, stay for a while, and see what volunteering with St Gemma’s could look like for you.

For Volunteers’ Week, we’re sharing Pat’s story, and it’s a great reminder of the difference our retail volunteers make.

Pat volunteers at our Hunslet shop and previously worked as a shop manager within St Gemma’s. She has a real passion for charity retail and enjoys being part of the everyday life of the shop, from serving customers and working on the till, to creating eye-catching window displays and helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes.

For Pat, volunteering is also about the people she meets along the way and the sense of fulfilment that comes from giving time to something close to her heart.

Pat says:
“Being a volunteer gives as much back as you give, a real sense of fulfilment.”

A huge thank you to Pat, and to all our volunteers for everything you do.

It’s Volunteers’ Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible people who give their time, energy and kindness across our St Gemma’s shops.

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do in retail. They welcome customers, sort donations, create eye-catching displays, and help to keep our shops running day to day.

Emily is one of our shop volunteers and has been with us for over four years. She first joined while studying for her A-levels, looking for something that would give her a break from revision. What she found was a supportive space where she could build confidence, meet new people, and learn new skills.

Emily says:
“Volunteering is the best decision I’ve made for building relationships, skills, and confidence that continues to shape my life.”

Stories like Emily’s are a reminder of just how much our volunteers contribute, not only to our shops, but to the people and communities around them.

We were delighted to see one of our regular customers, Kelly, looking fabulous in a head-to-toe outfit made up entirely of finds she picked up from us last weekend! 😍

There's nothing we love more than seeing our customers giving pre-loved fashion a new lease of life and finding pieces that make them look and feel amazing.
