Join us at The Grief Garden for a reflective writing workshop with author Charlie Bingham!

Guided by thoughtful writing prompts inspired by the garden, you'll be invited to notice what surrounds you and allow your reflections to unfold on the page. The garden provides a space to pause, breathe and reconnect with yourself, with memories of the person you've lost, and with the restorative presence of the natural world.

After the workshop we will hold a gardening session where you will get the opportunity to further connect and tend to The Grief Garden.

Come as you are, and discover how writing, alongside the restorative presence of the garden, can offer moments of connection, reflection and gentle healing.

Join us for a Death Cafe - an open, respectful space to talk about death, dying and what it means to live.

At the Death Cafe, we will gather, drink tea, eat cake and talk about death. There’s no set agenda, no guest speaker and no intended conclusion. It’s simply a chance to explore thoughts, feelings and questions around death in a supportive and non-judgemental setting.

It isn’t a grief support group or therapy session, but a group-directed conversation. The aim is to help make conversations about death less taboo and to open up space for reflection on how it shapes our lives, relationships and priorities.

Thank you to Vale Leeds Leeds in Meanwood for donating a lovely Forsythia shrub for our circular border. It will help bring us some colour in early spring and help give us a bit more privacy in the garden (in a couple of years!).

You can find out more about The Vale on their page: The Vale Leeds.

A big thanks to our second donors Leeds Tree Care who donated us these beautiful tree stumps for some extra seating around our little pond. Each week we’ve been drinking fresh mint tea and sharing a bit about our grief & gardening journey.

We've launched The Grief Garden in Wetherby!

The Grief Garden CIC is a new community-led pilot project inviting people who are experiencing grief to come together to co-create a garden as a place of acceptance, connection and healing. Based at Living Potential Care Farming CIC, the project has been developed through the Permaculture Association, and funded so far by Beyondly.

In the garden, people are welcome to express and explore their grief in ways that feel right for them, whilst designing, planting and caring for an evolving space that grows alongside the community. Through working with nature, the garden encourages a gentle, reciprocal relationship between humans and the natural world and aims to make space for grief to be, without pressure to ‘get better’.

We're hosting a 12 week pilot programme every Thursday, 5pm-7:30pm. If you're interested in coming along, or know someone who might be, register your place on eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/grief-gardening-4810944

A big thanks to our first donors Woodward Arborists and Wykeham Mature Plants for donating two beautiful, well established shrubs for The Grief Garden.

This proud Dogwood is a feature in our garden that will help provide structure, colour through the winter and harvestable materials we can use to make our woven wreaths, hurdles and trellises.

Thanks so much for your support, it makes a big difference to our growing garden!
