🚨 The 25-26 HE pay reballot result is in 🚨

University of Leeds UNISON branch passed the threshold with 58.65% turnout! 86% of voting members voted to strike. We now have a 12-month mandate for strike action.

Further details will come from the branch committee, but for now congratulations to all members who voted, spoke to colleagues about the ballot and made this result happen ✊

The UNISON HE pay reballot is underway and ballot papers are starting to arrive in the post. We have until 27 March to vote so don’t wait. Get your ballot returned and tell the branch when you’ve voted!

🚨 RE-BALLOT OPENS TODAY 🚨

University of Leeds UNISON branch didn’t make the 50% turnout in the autumn ballot on HE pay. We missed the legal threshold by one vote, so we’re re-balloting to ask again. Ballot papers are being sent out from TODAY and the vote closes Friday 27 March.

Higher Education is in crisis, with increased workloads and more stress than ever. While other sectors have been getting reasonable pay offers we’ve got yet another real-terms pay cut. As a collective voice we are stronger and can make a difference. We need every eligible member to post their ballot paper back with a YES vote.

Look out for your green envelope with ballot papers and post it back as soon as you can. Let the branch know when you’ve voted, our reps will be in touch to ask. Now is the time to make your voice heard and make a real difference.

The 2025/26 Higher Education strike ballot has closed. Our branch is disappointed to announce that we missed the mandate threshold with only 49.96% turnout.

The law requires 50% of branch members to participate in the ballot to secure a mandate, and this time we have fallen short by 1 vote.

The University of Leeds branch will request a reballot, and more information will follow about this process. This outcome goes to show that whether it’s a Yes or a No, every single vote counts in our democratic processes.

Ballots must be received by Friday, so post today or tomorrow to ensure your vote is counted and your voice is heard.

The union recommends a YES vote to show the employer we reject another year of real-terms pay cuts.
