We would like to say a huge thank you to the Durham Freemasons Charity for their support.
This funding will help us to continue providing a fun, inclusive and creative space where young people can build confidence, make friends and develop their dance skills each week.
We are so grateful for the support of organisations like Durham Freemasons, whose generosity helps us to keep opportunities like Den Dance accessible for the children and young people in our community.
Thank you for helping us to keep Den Dance moving!
🎉 Grant Presentation to The Activity Den 🎉
Durham Freemasons’ Charity is delighted to report that a grant of £1,000 was awarded to The Activity Den to help keep its Den Dance sessions affordable, welcoming and full of opportunity for local children.
The grant certificate was presented by DFC representative Stan Fitches on 30th June 2026 at The Activity Den, Tanfield Lea.
Den Dance provides children with a positive environment where they can express themselves, develop confidence and take pride in their achievements through dance and movement.
Stan Fitches said:
“Dance gives young people a positive space to express themselves, build confidence and feel proud of their progress.
“Structured movement helps improve coordination, fitness and confidence in using the body in a fun, supportive environment.”
During his visit, Stan met some of the young people taking part in the session.
Stan Fitches added:
“Although there were only a handful of children present when I arrived, their enthusiasm was enormous.
“It was a hot, sunny evening, which probably accounted for the lower numbers, but the energy, enjoyment and encouragement shown throughout the session demonstrated exactly why this project is so valuable.”
The funding will help ensure that Den Dance remains accessible to local families, enabling more children to enjoy the physical, emotional and social benefits of participating in regular dance activities.
