Largs Child Loss Support Group

Largs Child Loss Support Group Comfort, connection, and remembrance for families navigating the heartbreak of baby/child loss.

29/05/2026

Losing a child changes everything.
There’s no “right way” to cope with it, and no timeline for grief.
Some days you manage a little better.
Some days you don’t.
Both are normal.
One thing this group continues to show is that support really does matter. Being around people who understand without needing to explain yourself can make difficult days feel a little less isolating.

So today’s question is simple:
What’s something that helps you get through the hard days?

Could be a distraction, a routine, music, keeping busy, visiting a place, talking about them, or even just having a quiet hour to yourself.

You never know who might read your comment and feel understood because of it 🤍

Ahead of tonight's group I have finally made some lanyards. My role within the group so far is everything but as the year progresses if anyone would like to take more of an active role please do let me know 🙏 things such as events, socials/advertising, community engagement, awareness and campaigning are all a massive part of our group. Everything I do behind the scenes to keep our group going can be alot for one person, so any help would be appreciated and I can make you your very own lanyard 😅

If you would like a more active role, please send me a message with your thoughts 😊

Thanks, Emma 🤍🤍

National Say Their Name Day 🤍🤍🤍

This is a chance for you to say your baby’s name and share their memory. Not just for parents... we are encouraging grandparents, relatives, friends and colleagues to take part too. It takes one brave person to speak up and encourage others to Say Their Name, supporting bereaved families and keeping their baby’s memory alive.

If you’d like to, you can share whatever is meaningful to you… a name, nickname, symbol, date or a few words about your baby.

Here are some ways you can take part...

- Write their name on Sands Memory Wall
- Share this post with their name
- Say their name in the comments
- Use Sands baby name templates below
- Download a Say Their Name Card from Sands website
- Make a donation to help a local baby loss group

Follow the link in the comments to find out more 👇

We know some of you may not feel ready to share your baby’s name yet. We know that your baby is in your heart every day 💜🧡

I have started something new at Jonah & Arla’s Light that I hope will gently support parents and families on their journey.

I have created a small lending library of supportive books around baby loss and grief. These books will be available at our group meetings, and anyone attending is welcome to borrow a book and return it the following month. Sometimes the right words, shared experiences, or quiet moments with a book can bring comfort in ways that are hard to find elsewhere.

This little library is for all of our parents and families whether you are newly bereaved or further along in your journey.

💫If anyone has books they would like to donate that may help support bereaved parents or families, we would be incredibly grateful. Donations will help us grow this library so more people can find comfort when they need it most💫

If you’d like to donate a book, please just send me a message.

Very proud to announce that we are now part of the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance as members 💙 🩷

We do hope that this year more of our community will come together and help us in turning the town pink and blue. Community buildings, spaces, the giant viking, the pencil ? Let's show all of North Ayrshire how Largs comes together to support its community.
We live with our loss everyday, can you support us for one week?

Get in touch via our group if you can participate this year - Largs Child Loss Support Group - Jonah and Arla’s Light.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is an opportunity:
To support bereaved parents and families and to unite with others across the world to commemorate their babies’ lives and lost pregnancies.

To raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss.

To drive improvements in care and support for anyone affected and in the prevention of pregnancy and baby loss.

Sands is the leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity and exists to reduce the number of babies dying and to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth.

If you’re watching this and you’ve lost a baby or a child…
I want you to know something first.
You are not broken.
You are not dramatic.
And you are absolutely not alone.
Here in Largs, we run a small, gentle support group for parents and families who are living with that kind of loss the kind that changes everything, even when the world keeps moving.
Our group was created after losing our own baby, Jonah.
We meet simply to sit together.
To talk, or not talk.
To drink tea.
To breathe.
To remember our children by name.
There is no pressure.
No fixing.
No timelines.
Just people who understand.
Whether your loss was recent…
or years ago…
whether your grief is loud or quiet…
you are welcome here.
If you’re in or around Largs and you think this space might help even a little,
you can find us by searching Largs Child Loss Support Group.
You don’t have to carry this on your own anymore.
We’re here. 🤍
