The Lancaster and District Bird Watching Society covers an extensive area of north Lancashire, south Cumbria, and North Yorkshire

Founded in 1959, LDBWS collects records of birds seen in the area, organises local surveys and contributes to national surveys arranged by the BTO and other bodies. The society also has a programme of indoor meetings where members enjoy interesting talks from a wide range of experts.

There's still time to book your place on our Pilling goose roost field trip on Wednesday evening!

It's one of the best sites in the country for this spectacle. We’ll watch the geese come into their roost at dusk and keep an eye on the skies and marshes as well for raptors, wildfowl and waders.

It was a fantastic turnout for the first indoor meeting of our autumn and winter events calendar.

We welcomed Alasdair McKee to chat all things Ospreys - from migration routes to hunting tactics. As a volunteer for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, he also gave us an update on this year's nesting success straight from Foulshaw Moss!

Join us first thing on Wednesday morning for a wader watch at RSPB Leighton Moss.

Due to prolonged periods of dry weather, we had to postpone this event back in July. But the pools have now filled back up, and we hope will provide great views of birds like godwits, Greenshank, Spotted Redshank - and maybe even Little Stint or Curlew Sandpiper!
