Throwback Thursday to our final session of our Foundation BSL Course!

We enjoyed 4 amazing weeks of BSL teaching by the fabulous Jan, Ellie and Annamaria at !

Both our members and guests learnt about the Deaf Community, the alphabet, numbers and lots more! By the end of the course we were able to hold a simple conversation in sign and we received a certificate for all our hard work!

We all thoroughly enjoyed the course and are hoping to even do our Level 1 at some point. Thank you so much to everyone who took part, it was a fabulous event that was a pleasure for Charlotte (Chair) and Dean (Social Secretary) to run! Also thank you to Karl (treasurer) and Caitlin (Vice Chair) for their support behind the scenes.

We hope to see you at our upcoming events, keep your eyes peeled 👀 Hint…… there may be FREE PIZZA 🍕 🍕 🍕 🍕

We’ve been nominated for an award by the !

The Education Society have been nominated for the Activate award for the growing of our group and that is down to all of our fabulous members so thank you so much!!

If you would like to join us at the event, tickets are £5 and include a coach to and from Carlisle campus (what a bargain).

Our first foundation sign language session with the amazing Jan and Ellie from the Fylde Coast BSL centre!

We learnt all about the Deaf community, how to be respectful towards the deaf community, the causes of hearing impairments/deafness, finger spelling and greetings and questions! And we even had time for some conversations and introductions ☺️

We cannot wait for our session next week!!!!!

Our Vice Chair and Social Secretary enjoying our Christmas party on the 3rd of December!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the party and who has been to any of our events this year! We loved celebrating Christmas with you all 🎄 🎅🏼

The committee are taking a well deserved break over Christmas and we will see you all in January for our Sign Language Course and lots of other fun events!

Next Friday is The Society’s Christmas Party!!!! 🎅🏼🎄We are waiting for confirmation about what room we will be in on campus but as soon as we know we’ll let you guys know!! 7:30pm on campus for music, drinks and nibbles then 9:30ish into town for more drinks and dancing! We can’t wait to see you all there guys- the committee are so excited about this event 🤪🥂

Hello members!!!! Our next big event is our trip to the Manchester Christmas Markets on Saturday 27th November! We are aiming to meet at 3pm outside Piccadilly Plaza Post Office! There’s no set plan for in Manchester, just to have a laugh together, a few drinks if desired and eat plenty of Christmas food!! We cannot wait to see you guys in Manchester for a festive fun day out 🎄 🎅

IMPORTANT ‼️ New dates have been confirmed for the Sign Language Course, please see the poster for all the details. The course will still be happening at 6pm in person NOT online. Any questions please do not hesitate to message us either via Instagram or our Whatts app group! There are still places available for the course so if you haven’t already got your ticket GET YOURS NOW or get your friends involved! 🤪 Thank you to all our members for your patience while we have had to re-schedule this course for you.
