🌍 World Environment Day 🌍

This year's theme is climate action. πŸ’«

Taking action for the climate can feel overwhelming however, there are so many different things we can do that can make a huge, positive difference.

Whether its larger-scale action such as changing how we heat our homes and buildings or the food we choose to eat, to smaller-scale actions like choosing to leave the car at home for one journey per week or choosing to borrow an item instead of buying, there are so many ways we can get involved. πŸ’š

Check out our website to see how you can get involved in climate action in Lanarkshire. Whether you are an individual or a community group, there is information and lots of resources to help, such as:

🌳 Exploring how nature has reclaimed the land 🌳

At last year's , Tricky Hat Productions invited the community to take a walk through the former Ravenscraig steel works site to explore how nature has taken back the land. πŸ’«

The event was an opportunity to discover the area’s unique plant and wildlife, and meet others with a connection to the site. πŸ’š

Participants commented that they "really liked all the new plants I discovered things about" and that "it's great seeing how wildlife has taken over, seeing deer about". 🦌

Many shared that they had parents/family who worked at the site and how they remember what it looked like many years before, noting that there were definitely no deers or trees to be seen at the time and that it was really exciting to see what is now there.

Would your community benefit from learning more about the nature and biodiversity in a local greenspace? Apply for funding to host an event during this year's festival. You'll find the application form here: https://f.mtr.cool/yfqesnrxtt

Applications close this Sunday so don't delay! πŸ—“οΈ
