So, Jack has now had the skits, and so has one of the Byre Weans, as well Gem being a wee bit runny. They're usually reliably solid, so this is either a bug, or something they've eaten that's contained something that's irritated their guts (as opposed tae food poisoning).
Given they've nae temperature and are otherwise well in themselves, I think we're dealing wi something they've eaten. Racking my brains over the last few days and narrowing it doon, the main suspect is a mint flavoured Dentastix treat that was donated.
Not everyb'dy who has had one has had the skits, but everyb'dy who has had the skits has had one (though I'm not sure aboot Haps, I cannae mind if he had one when his upset tummy started - I put it doon tae Rodeos at the time).
We're careful wi sweeties and they only get one a day at bedtime. We wish we could only gie them completely natural food and sweeties and we dae oor absolute best wi the quality of the food wi gie them (some brands go straight in the bin), but the reality is we are dependent on donations and... beggars, choosers and aw that. When we ask for sweeties, we go for things like Whimzees and other nae-additive ones we know areny full of nasties, or 100% peanut butter for their Kongs.
We've noticed in the last few years that sweeties they used tae be able tae have without any problems are now making their tummies poorly. I wonder if recipes/additives have changed, and if anyb'dy else has noticed this happening? We've heard other reports of this, too.
Given the deteriorating crap they create for humans tae eat, it'll be little wonder if they're dain the same wi dug food and treats.
We're gaunnie be mair careful now and add some mair black-listed sweeties that willnae gie them. We don't want tae be wasteful and we areny being ungrateful, but nowadays something seems tae be happening wi certain brands of dug treats that is causing this, and we cannae take chances.
Everyb'dy is being carefully monitored and getting supportive and vet care when needed. The young yins we hope will bounce back after it clears their system, and the auldies are getting fluids, antibiotics and other supportive care.
If anyb'dy needs an infinite light source, just bring one of they black lights tae check crime scenes for bodily fluids! Whit a mess, poor wee t***s :(
