Nappers Cottage dates from 1446. In 1859, the cottage became the first village hospital in England. It has not been used by the NHS since 2007. Cranleigh Heritage Trust has been granted a lease by the NHS and is refurbishing the building for use as a health and wellbeing centre.

Evidence that 'every penny' counts in conservation is illustrated by Surrey Historic Buildings Trust's £5k grant to St Mary's Church in Oxted. The grant towards repairs to the tower has helped to enable this beautiful and much-loved church to be removed form Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register. We are delighted to encourage heritage skills, whilst ensuring the future of this ancient building for the community.
