Unfortunately today we had to deploy our emergency portable aeration kit. The extreme hot weather caused a massive algae bloom in Bear lake, but the torrential rain and thunderstorms last night turned the water over and caused the Dissolved oxygen levels to crash . Levels have now risen and I will continue to monitor these over the next few days .
Bear lake will continue to stay shut to allow the fish to recover from this and also the stress of spawning, the club realise it’s a disappointment to a lot of members who fish this lake but fish welfare must come first.
A lot of people moan about the EA but the equipment used was funded by Rod Licence money.
