The Neighbourhood Board (We Make Kilmarnock) is preparing to recruit for a Chair of the Board and Board Members.

Outgoing Chair, Fiona McKenzie OBE said -

“We Make Kilmarnock is entering an incredibly exciting new chapter, with a bold strategy, 10 years of significant investment and momentum building across the town.

At its heart is a simple but vital principle: community led, council enabled.

Now it’s time for new voices to come round the table, bringing different strengths, skills, experience, connections, energy and ideas - people who care about Kilmarnock and can take the vision to the next level.”

To find out more and apply, please visit the link in comments -

Expressions of interest should be submitted by 19 October 2026.

Good people of Kilmarnock

As you will have hopefully seen by now, we are up and running with the first of our Early Impact Initiatives which involves painting railings in and around the town centre. This is just the first of many projects happening in the coming months and years and as this entire program is community led, we need the community to get involved.

If you would like to be added to our, already growing, volunteers list then please email your name and mobile number to [email protected] and we will add you to the team.

Thank you

Pleased to say that our first Brighten Up Railing Painting project has now been completed. We hope that you agree that they look fabulous!

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time to volunteer and for doing such a great job.

Plans are well underway to get the next site up and running (only 18 more to go 😁) and we will share more details of that in the next week or so.

Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to send an email with your name and mobile number to [email protected]

We are delighted to get our latest initiative underway, with the start of our Brighten Up project.

We have identified 20 areas in and around the Town Centre where the railings will benefit from being cleaned down and repainted to bring them back to their former glory.

All materials funded by We Make Kilmarnock and a huge thanks to our volunteers for making this happen.

If you would like to get involved please message us here or email [email protected]
