We are delighted to annouce that Ernie’s Place – our new Community Café, offical opening will be taking place on Saturday 7 March 2026, 10:00am–12:00 noon at Grovehurst Surgery

Ernie’s Place has been created as a warm, welcoming space for our local community a place to connect, chat, and feel part of something supportive. It’s been built with the help of our Patient Participation Group and volunteers, and we’re really excited to open the doors and share it with you.

Light refreshments will be available, and we’d love for you to join us to celebrate, meet the team, and see the space.

Community Project: Grovehurst Surgery & Grovehurst Patient Participation Group

Introduction
The Grovehurst Surgery and Grovehurst Patient Participation Group (PPG) are launching a Community Help Hub, ‘Ernie’s Place’, to bring the local community together in a warm, safe, friendly, and supportive environment. This initiative aims to provide a welcoming space where individuals can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, chat, and access valuable financial, physical, and mental information, all with no pressure to participate.

Objectives
•Foster friendships and connections between the practice and the local population.
•Provide a safe and accessible space for social interaction and support.
•Offer easily accessible resources on well-being.
•Ensure no cost to participants, with donations of food and beverages from the local community.
•Develop a multi-functional space that is secure and easy to store away when not in use.

Community Involvement & Support
The project has already gained enthusiastic support from local businesses and individuals who wish to contribute by donating money, products, materials, and time. It is hoped that as the project grows, further initiatives will develop.
