The last meeting for the season will be this coming Wednesday 1st April in the Lady Joanna Thornhill School hall at 7.30pm. Details on the poster below.

Jasper Bouverie's talk "Cyril Whelan and Alwyn Levy - Wye’s little known connections to Music Hall, Hollywood and the Greatest Story Ever Told" should have us amused, intrigued and engaged.

The next meeting of the Wye Historical Society will start 15 mins earlier (at 7.15pm) for the AGM. Following swiftly on will be a talk given by Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh, titled " A Gateway County: Migrants in 15th-Century Canterbury and Kent". Sheila is a Specialist Associate Lecturer in Medieval and Early Modern Studies at the University of Kent. Please see below for details.

The next Wye Historical Society meeting is a joint one with the Wye Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) on Wednesday 4th February at 7.30pm in the Lady Joanna Thornhill School Hall.
"Malice, Mendacity and Manipulation. A short history of Fake News - if you can believe it?" to be given by Brigadier (Ret.d) David Reece.

The next meeting of the Wye Historical Society is at the Lady Joanna Thornhill School on Wednesday 7th January at 7.30pm.
Pat Marsh has entitled her talk "Writing historical fiction with examples from Three Faces - The Story of Aphra Behn". She will have copies of her book on sale,
and Maureen de Saxe is to give us a photo show of Fires in Wye.

The Wye Historical Society talk this month is “Eat Your Carrots. The History of British Radar” given by Guy Bartlett, an experienced speaker we have had the pleasure of hearing before in 2022. Visitors welcome. For details please see the poster.

A reminder that the second meeting of the Wye Historical Society season is on Wednesday 5th November at 7.30pm in the Lady Joanna Thornhill School Hall.

Katie Williams is to talk to us about William Burges and the High - Low Victorian Dream.
William Burges (1827-1881) was, in his own time, renowned and respected and has been described as “the greatest art-architect of the Gothic Revival". His work includes the Maison Dieu (Dover).

This Wednesday 1st October the Wye Historical Society will meet for a new season of talks beginning with Imogen Corrigan speaking about the Bayeux Tapestry. Membership is £15 per year, and guests welcome for £3 per talk. Further details on the poster.
