Build, learn, and tinker — together

We run parent & child coding and electronics sessions at Woodville for families who enjoy learning by doing.

This isn’t screen-time or passive lessons.

It’s about:

- Building real projects together
- Exploring how technology works
-Learning through experimentation (and the odd mistake)

Who it’s for:

- Children aged roughly 12 –17
- Parents who want a shared activity, not drop-off childcare
- Families who enjoy curiosity, problem-solving, and hands-on projects

What to expect:

- Friendly, small groups
- Real hardware and simple coding
- No prior experience needed

👉 If you’d like to hear about future parent & child groups, register your interest here:

It takes a couple of minutes and helps us plan new cohorts.

Hello! Thanks for your interest in Code for Good. This isn’t just “screen time” — it’s making time: building small projects, learning real-world tech skills, and developing confidence through curiosity and teamwork. Sessions are designed to be friendly, practical, and beginner-safe (includ...

We’re running hands-on coding and electronics sessions at Woodville (Keighley)! 🚀🤘

These are small, friendly evening sessions where people:

- build real projects (electronics, sensors, simple coding)
- learn by doing, at a steady pace
- don’t need any prior experience

We run:

- Adult-only sessions (beginner-friendly)
- Parent & child sessions where families can learn and build together

If you — or someone you know — might be interested, you can register interest here (no commitment, just helps us plan future groups):

For curious adults who feel a bit “left behind” by tech or those that want to expand their knowledge

We’re starting (and expanding) adult-only hands-on coding & electronics sessions at Woodville.

This is for you if:

- You’ve always been curious how tech actually works
- You’ve tried tutorials but they never quite stuck
- You like learning by building, not being lectured

What we do:

- Build real things (sensors, radios, small apps, gadgets)
- Start from first principles — no assumed knowledge
- Learn at a steady, human pace

What this is not:

- Not a classroom
- Not an exam
- Not “become a developer in 6 weeks” nonsense

Sessions run on weekday evenings at Woodville, with small groups and clearly explained costs.

👉 If this sounds like your kind of thing, fill in the interest form here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd72qc0-_Wb-fTEGA7w9f-sveYHDDn5PIHBDVPNTL_uyZxu3g/viewform?usp=dialog

No commitment — it just helps us shape future groups.

Fancy another “expensive” hobby?
Good news — this one isn't 😄 or it doesn't have to be.

If you:

- enjoy tinkering
- secretly want an excuse to buy a soldering iron (who doesn't)
- like understanding how things actually work
- or have ever justified a tool purchase as “educational”😉

…you’ll probably fit right in.

At Code For Good, adults meet in the evenings to build real tech projects together:

- electronics
- coding
- sensors, radios, and small systems

No pressure.
No pretending you already know things.
Just curiosity and hands-on learning.

If that sounds like your kind of fun, you can register interest here:

This week we’re coding and testing basic LoRa communication.

That means:

- writing the code ourselves
- sending messages between devices in the same room
- and watching our first messages travel through simple radio, not Wi-Fi or the internet

It’s a small step, but an important one: turning lines of code into something that actually communicates with the world.

We’re building on top of the environmental sensor devices we created previously, and slowly connecting them into a local network that we understand from the ground up.

Nothing flashy.
No black boxes.
Just code → radio → message → response.

If this kind of hands-on, practical tech sounds interesting, you can register your interest here:

Quick question for the adults and older kids here 👇

Would there be interest in hands-on sessions focused on:

- C #
- Unity
- or practical .NET / backend-style projects?

Not theory-heavy courses — more like:

- building small real projects
- understanding how things fit together
- learning by doing, in a small group

This wouldn’t replace what we’re currently running — just exploring whether there’s appetite for an additional strand later on.

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, let us know via our interest forms (as you fill in the form mention Unity or C # in the comments so I know you came from this post):

No promises yet — just gathering signals.

A lot of people think coding is about:

- maths
- syntax
- being clever

In reality, it’s much closer to giving clear instructions and seeing what happens.

At Code For Good, we use Python — and a hardware-friendly version called CircuitPython (from Adafruit).

Why?

Because it’s:

- readable
- forgiving
- great for beginners
- and works brilliantly with electronics

You write a few lines of code…
and suddenly an LED blinks, a sensor reports data, or a device responds to the world.

No abstract exercises.
No exams.
Just cause and effect.

If you’ve ever been curious about coding but put it off because it felt intimidating — this is exactly the space we built.
