Jedburgh Pipe Band

Jedburgh Pipe Band Non Profit Organisation / Self Funding Group
The Pipe Band in Jedburgh was formed in 1943 & plays at many community events.

The Band has also spread its wings to play at prestigious venues all over the world including France, Italy, Germany, & America. The Pipe Band in Jedburgh was formed in 1943 originally as the Boys Brigade Pipe Band and has evolved over time to become Jedburgh Pipe Band. We are a fully self-funding, not for profit group and in
common with most other Bands, the Pipe Band is run by volunteers and ban

d members all perform entirely in their own free time. The Pipe Band is currently led by Pipe Major Tosh MacDonald and the Band is primarily a "Traditional Street Parade Pipe Band" and proud to be so. Wearing Seaforth McKenzie Tartan kilts, plaid & hose with white spats & doublet jackets with silver braiding; Jedburgh Pipe Band is one of the smartest bands in the Scottish Borders. We aim to encourage people of all ages to integrate with the community by providing and promoting pipe music at various events throughout the year and also being good ambassadors for the town of Jedburgh and Scotland. The Pipe Band plays at many community and local events throughout the year and has also spread its wings to play at prestigious venues in countries all over the world including France, Italy, Germany, America and Eire.

Very sad news; Alec was such a lovely gentleman.
A pleasure to have spent time with him in Normandy.
Fair winds and following seas

More sad news, we have been informed that Alec Penstone has passed away after a short illness. Alec had joined several visits to Normandy and other events hosted by SONT.

Alec was loved by so many people, not just a Normandy Veteran, but also a veteran of 10 (and a half) Arctic Convoys.

RIP Alec you are reunited with your beloved wife Gladys, you will be missed, we will raise a glass or two next week in France in your memory.

Pipe Major Tosh MacDonald and Band Secretary Mo MacDonald had the pleasure of visiting D-Day Veteran Charles Horne recently, who along with Henry Montgomery, 3rd Viscount of Alamein learned from Charlie of his life before and after WWII as a trawlerman and of his experience of the D-Day Landings.

Henry Montgomery is currently retracing the journey to D-Day taken by his grandfather, Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. Along the way, he is capturing the human stories behind
D-Day; through films, interviews and a podcast—ensuring these voices are not lost to history.

Please support Henry in this great fundraiser as we should never forget those like Charlie who fought for our freedom 🕊️
