Tagsa Uibhist - Slàinte agus Sunnd - Health and Wellbeing in our Community Tagsa Uibhist is the only registered charity in the area that provides its service users with free care from trained staff.

Tagsa Uibhist - Our vision is that all people in Uist have the opportunity and support they need to be healthy, to live with dignity, to experience wellbeing at all stages in their lives, and to be part of an inclusive and caring community. Tagsa Uibhist is a voluntary organisation founded in 1999 that provides support for carers, people with dementia and vulnerable people living in their own home

s throughout the Uists. This is a service that works in partnership with Alzheimers Scotland- Action on Dementia. Our service is registered and regulated by the Care Inspectorate and has established effective links with statutory and other voluntary groups on the island. Tagsa Uibhist is a 'company Limited by Guarantee' locally owned and managed by its members and directors

We believe that to provide a professional service, it is paramount to put service users at the heart of everything we do. The people receiving our support have become accustomed to our flexible, user-led services; making Tagsa Uibhist a major provider of care services throughout the Uists and Benbecula.

We are recruiting Domestic Assistants in North Uist!

Are you based in North Uist and looking for a rewarding role in your local community? Tagsa Uibhist is recruiting Domestic Assistants to help our service users live independently and comfortably in their own homes.

What you'll be doing:
✅ General cleaning – vacuuming, dusting, mopping
✅ Kitchen and bathroom cleaning
✅ Laundry, ironing and changing bed linen
✅ General household tidying

All training is provided and paid at your hourly rate.

Hourly Rate: £15.27 (rising to £15.93 with SVQ2)
Mileage paid at 45p/mile
Variable hours available

Please note: all successful candidates will be required to complete a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check prior to starting.

Do you love getting your hands in the soil? We're looking for a passionate Seasonal Gardener to join our Community Gardens Team in East Camp, Balivanich this summer!

🗓️ Fixed Term: June – November 2026
⏰ 28 hours/week
💷 £14.52/hour

You'll be helping to grow vegetables, fruit and plants, supporting harvesting and sales, and welcoming volunteers, school visits, inter-generational groups and more. It's a role where your work truly benefits the whole community. 🥕🫐🌿

☕ We're Hiring Respite Assistants!

Are you patient, understanding and sensitive to the needs of others? Tagsa Uibhist is continuously recruiting Respite Assistants to support unpaid carers across Uist by giving them a well-deserved break, with the reassurance that their loved ones are in safe hands.
Respite visits usually last between two and four hours — a small commitment that means the world to local families.

💰 What we offer:

Tagsa's new 'Community Gardens Hub' is now close to completion. The Hub was funded by the Wolfson Foundation with the following objectives:

- A site for the activities of our Tagsa Adult Support, Volunteering, Horticultural Training, Arts Therapies services, thereby reducing social isolation and loneliness and supporting wellbeing and positive mental health.
- A place for our intergenerational Nature Club to meet.
- A focal point for our summer Local Food Markets which showcase the production and sale of local, nutritious healthy food.
- A space for horticultural training, skills development, and employability opportunities.
- A space for volunteers, the Community Allotment Group, Community Service Placements to socialise and work together.
- A space for a local Café in the summer months for visitors to the Community Gardens, creating employment opportunities.

We are hiring a Post Diagnostic Support Link Worker (Dementia)!

Based within Tagsa’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Department, this role is also clinically supervised within NHS Western Isles Community Mental Health Team in Balivanich and receives referrals through the NHS. The purpose of this role is to help individuals recently diagnosed with dementia in the year following diagnosis to understand the illness and manage symptoms, to connect with others to reduce isolation, to explore how the person wants to be cared for as the condition progresses, to support processes such as setting Power of Attorney while the person still has the capacity and to support them to stay active and involved in local social networks.
