Our Secondary School Youth Council cyber safety workshop, was highly successful in empowering young people to explore and discuss important issues surrounding online safety and digital risk taking behaviours.

Through engaging discussions and youth-led activities, our young people increased their understanding of risk-taking behaviours online, including oversharing personal information, interacting with unknown individuals, and participating in potentially harmful online trends.

Today created a supportive environment where young people could share their experiences, learn from one another, and develop practical strategies for staying safe online. As a result, our young people demonstrated increased awareness of the risks associated with digital platforms and a greater understanding of how to protect themselves and others.

The Youth Council not only strengthened knowledge of online safety but also promoted responsible digital choices, critical thinking, and confidence in making informed decisions when navigating online spaces.

Thank you to all who came along and took part

📣 Got 8 minutes to spare to help share your views about children and young people's health?

Young people are asked to complete the annual Children's Health Scotland survey to give children across Scotland the chance to share their experiences so professionals can better respect and uphold their rights.

The deadline to share your views is Sunday 9 June - please take the time to have your say so that young people's voices continue to guide the future of healthcare in Scotland.

Complete the survey here: https://www.childrenshealthscotland.org/nationalsurvey26/

Children's Health Scotland works to ensure every child in Scotland has the right to the best possible health and understands their health rights 🩺⚕️💪🫀👩🏻‍⚕️

They provide support programmes for children with health conditions, as well as for Kinship and Foster Carers and are the only charity in Scotland that focuses on the healthcare needs and rights of children with health conditions.

Under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Article 24, children have the right to the best possible health.

Scotland’s Getting It Right For Every Child approach underpins this work by ensuring every child gets the right support at the right time, centred around their wellbeing needs.

Take part in our National 'My Health, My Rights' Survey and share your experiences as a child or working with children.

K:A Leisure | Sportscotland | North Ayrshire Active Schools

📣 A nationwide summer programme of free and low-cost sporting activity has been launched this week by North Ayrshire Council in partnership with Sportscotland 👇

The £20 million 2026 initiative, funded by The Scottish Government and facilitated by Sportscotland, will offer young people aged three to 26 the opportunity to get active and maybe try something new.

This summer, it’s game on, and the 2026 Summer of Sport is a unique opportunity for communities across Scotland to embrace the excitement of sport and physical activity 🏆🤸⚽🏸🎊

With activities running throughout the summer and beyond, young people across our North Ayrshire’s six localities will have access to a range of free events, helping to remove barriers to participation and ensure more young people have the chance to get involved.

➡️ Confirmed events for June 2026 can be found in the catalogue: Summer of Sport catalogue on our Community Planning Partnership website: https://northayrshire.community/summer-of-sport-2026/

The Connected Communities team has also engaged with primary and secondary aged school children over the last few months to identify the types of activities they would like to see in the area.

Alongside our main partner K:A Leisure, North Ayrshire Council’s Community Learning and Development Service including Locality Teams, North Ayrshire Youth Work and North Ayrshire Active Schools, are working with a network of partners to ensure these opportunities are available to everyone, regardless of background.

The funding will enable the delivery of activities designed to help young people develop healthy habits, build stronger social connections, and foster a lifelong love of movement.

The programme is designed to remove barriers to participation, helping young people build confidence, make new friends, improve wellbeing and develop a lifelong love of being active.

A wide variety of activities will take place across communities throughout the summer, with specific sessions, venues and times listed for each local area.
