Heidi and Frida would like everyone to know we’re still alive — the human has just been very bad at keeping Facebook updated lately! We’ve still been out litter picking nearly every day 🐾🌍

Yesterday we returned to Dalneigh and were pleased to see it looking much better since our last visit. It’s clear local people have been out cleaning, so well done to everyone helping keep the area tidy.

We picked up two bags of litter and also found an abandoned campsite in the bushes, with a lot of rubbish left behind, including what looked like bottles of p*e — yuck! We’ve reported it to the council and will check back to make sure it’s dealt with.

Today Wag & Bag revisited Castle Heather Park to check on the litter situation. Sadly, despite the great effort the local community is putting into the park, a small minority still aren’t treating it with respect 🌍🐾

Heidi, Frida and I picked a full bag of litter from around the duck pond, including lots of broken glass. We were also sorry to see the bin appears to have been set on fire 🔥
Just mindless destruction, and we hope it can be replaced soon.

Proof that karma works in mysterious ways: a slightly muddy £10 note discovered in a bush! 💸

Don’t worry, we’ve still been busy Wagging and Bagging this past week — the posting has just been delayed while the human battles a particularly stinking cold 🤧.

We’ll be back properly soon, with news of an exciting competition!

This Mother’s Day the Wag & Bag team joined a fantastic group of volunteers to show Mother Earth a little love 🌍🐾

We met at the ASDA store and patrolled the surrounding paths and ditches — and sadly there was plenty of litter to pick up. After a solid couple of hours the team filled 21 bags with assorted rubbish. What an effort! 💪🗑️

The area is quite messy at the moment, but we’ll be speaking with Asda, The Highland Council and the housing estate factor to see how we can work together to improve things.

We’re proud to be part of a positive change for the area — and grateful to everyone who came along to help 💚

The Wag & Bag Team unearthed some proper litter archaeology today!

We spotted the top of an old Coke bottle poking out of the ground and dug out the rest — complete with its separate black plastic base, a design phased out before 1995.

So this bit of litter has been hanging about for at least 30 years. A funny find, but also a grim little reminder of just how long plastic sticks around.
Now finally in the bin… only 30 years late.

This weekend the Wag & Bag team joined a brilliant group of volunteers for a litter patrol around Muirton and Kinmylies 🐾

It was a beautiful morning for a snoot around the neighbourhood — sunshine, fresh air, and the chance to make things better for people and wildlife ☀️🐶

Sadly, there was still plenty of litter to collect… mostly the usual suspects: energy drink cans and alcohol bottles 😅 Humans, we can do better.

The good news? We left the area cleaner than we found it 💪🗑️

The Wag & Bag Team often wonder whether Red Bull contains some mysterious ingredient that temporarily removes the ability to see the nearest bin.
Luckily, Heidi & Frida are having none of it and won’t leave a single can behind once they’ve locked eyes on it — even if their dedication means I need to play a little fast and loose with health and safety!

In a slight change to our usual posts, we’ve put together a little video from a few of our weekday walks this past week 🐾

We’re out and about most days, and quite often these are short lunchtime strolls while the human takes a break from work. But wherever we go, the bag always comes with us — and it’s very rare that we don’t come across litter that needs dealing with.

It’s always a bit disappointing to see how much gets left behind, but we do our best to tackle whatever we find and keep on top of the mess 🗑️💪 Even a small tidy-up can make a big difference, transforming a spot so it looks better and becomes a safer space for both people and animals.

Thanks, as always, to everyone who supports and encourages what we do — it really does mean a lot 💚🐶

Dachshund fact of the day:

A Dachshund can be in the deepest sleep imaginable, but will still hear the faint crinkle of a snack packet from three rooms away… and arrive on the scene like a tiny four-legged debt collector.

The Wag & Bag team recently ticked Dalneigh off our bucket list 🐾 — but don’t worry, this definitely won’t be a one-time visit!

We had a brilliant time wandering the paths and playfields, meeting lots of friendly dogs and lovely locals who were so pleased to see a little tidy-up in action 💚 It’s a well-used park (as it should be!), but sadly not everyone treats it with the respect it deserves. The usual suspects were out in force — cans, bottles and discarded wrappers dotted along the way.

With tails wagging and bags at the ready, we collected as much as we could manage in the time we had 🗑️💪 Every little bit helps, and we’ll be back soon to keep on top of it.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat and shared such kind words — and to our followers who cheer us on from afar. We couldn’t do it without you 🐶💚

Dachshund fact of the day:

Frida can locate a single crumb on the floor that’s smaller than a pinhead… in a room you’ve “just hoovered”… and will retrieve it with the focus of a bomb disposal expert.
