Earlier today we met former Royal Marine Dave Collister who is on the last stages of his Land End to John O'Groats cycle fund raiser. Dave was stretching his legs and grabbing some much needed calories from Tesco Inshes in Inverness.

Dave, a former tanky, was last up in the area when he completed the North Coast 500 on his bicycle. He loved the area so much he decided to come back from the Isle of Mann.

If anyone wants to support Daves wee challenge please see the link below to find out about 3 top charities close to heart.

7 of our Branch members made the trip to Portsmouth to meet up with the RMA team to make the journey across the channel to pay their respects and and take part in this years anniversary for D Day.

They are still on their return journey home but it looks like everyone had a brilliant trip in Normandy with 47 Commando and many other veterans from all over the world.

We can confirm the names of the three members of the Royal Navy who tragically lost their lives during a helicopter training exercise on Wednesday 3 June.

They are:
Lieutenant Commander Chris Gayson, 42, Somerset
Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher, 31, Surrey
Petty Officer Owen Green, 24, Hampshire

All three dedicated their lives to serving the Royal Navy and their country. Our thoughts remain with their families, friends and colleagues at this time.

Saturday 30 May saw the Branch make our first amphibious activity with a mixture of crafts heading out to Dochgarroch at the end of Loch Ness to start the 7 mile paddle down the river Ness to finish in the city centre.

Our instructor for the day was JD Burnard who absolutely smashed the route on his paddleboard with his dog at his side 👏. Thank you very much for guiding us down the river and allowing us to have such a top day.

Tunnocks caramel wafers and tea cakes were all the scran we needed before getting some well earned cold drinks to take away the aches and pains. 🍺

Plans are already underway for our next activity and hopefully we are all dryer and with less bruises.... 🐎 🐴 🎠

We must apologise to the fishermen and women on the river. We tried to pass with stealth but alas our skills were lacking.

Our meeting this Saturday (30 May) is going to start slightly later than normal as we are kayaking, canoeing down the river Ness for the morning.

If you are in the legion for 1300 and the meeting will kick off as soon as we are all back.

Some photos of the expected carnage to follow...

🌟 Well done to the team of UK Armed forces who successfully reached the highest point in the world recently. A mixture of services and cap badges combined with their areas of expertise to build this team. 🌟

Well done team and well done Royal Marine mountain leaders in amongst them 👏

Two of our Branch members made the journey to the big smoke for this year Graspan Parade.

Branch chairman, Paul Wilson (Ed) carried the Highland Branch standard for this years march, looking extremely smart 👏. See some of the pictures from the RMA collection.

Dixie Dixon must have been hiding at the back as we can't see him in any of the pictures.

This looked a fantastic turn of for the 2026 parade and hopefully there will be a bigger turn out from Highland Branch next year
