Sharing for our team at Highland Foodbank Please do spread the word if you know of anyone who might be able to lend a hand. Our Foodbank volunteers are the most wonderful, caring and kind people. Even a couple of hours a week could really help lighten their load. Thank you 🙏

Could you spare a couple of hours to make a difference in your local community? 💚

We're looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to join our Highland Foodbank team!

Whether it's welcoming clients, preparing food parcels or helping behind the scenes in our warehouse, every volunteer plays an important part in supporting people experiencing hardship across the Highlands.

We currently have opportunities in Inverness, Dingwall and Alness, as well as flexible weekday opportunities in our Inverness warehouse.

Interested in joining us? We'd love to hear from you! Please pop an email to [email protected]

And if you know someone who might be interested, please share this post to help us spread the word. 💚

Today marks an important day in our journey as we officially welcome Calman Trust into the New Start Highland family. Calman has been supporting young people in our communities for decades and we are so proud to be their partner of choice as we build on the legacy they have created. Together we will continue to deliver youth work, personal development and employability programmes for young people in the Highlands. Support like this that has never been more vital and we can’t wait to get started.

Wearing pink and donating to Breast Cancer Now today 💗 We do this every year and it’s a fun way to stand up to cancer, support those around us and give to a worthy cause.

We’re marking Scotland’s Climate Week by celebrating our fabulous friends ILM Highland, who sell new, nearly new and refurbished domestic appliances at our Training and Reuse Village in Inverness. By giving appliances another life, ILM Highland helps to reduce waste, keep valuable resources in use for longer and make more sustainable choices accessible to our communities. If you need to replace your washing machine, cooker, tumble dryer, fridge or freezer, why not consider nearly new or refurbished? We’re delighted to partner with ILM Highland and wholeheartedly support their work towards a greener, more circular Highlands.

Just a little update to tell you that The Yard Café will be closed on Monday and Tuesday next week while we carry out some essential maintenance works.

This means our retail entrance on Carsegate Road, Inverness, will move to our warehouse, next to our Donations point, just for a couple of days. Our retail space and Unique Ness will still be open as usual.

The Yard is still open today til 4pm and all weekend 10am - 4pm to fuel your caffeine needs! ☕️

We are immensely proud today of our chief executive, James Dunbar, as we celebrate him receiving the hugely deserved Outstanding Contribution to the Local Economy Award at the Prosper Highlands and Islands Business Awards last night.

For 26 years, James has been the heart of New Start Highland, turning one simple idea, to help people in times of crisis, into a thriving organisation that now supports thousands of people every year and continues to grow, innovate and create opportunities across the Highlands.

He always says New Start Highland’s achievements are a team effort, but it is an effort that is led by someone with immeasurable kindness and empathy.

Congratulations James. We can’t wait for your vision of our next chapter to evolve.
