Q. IS TODAY IMPORTANT?
It’s 20 years since Kevin and I started dating, a young 21 year old falling for an older man with 2 young boys - what was I thinking?
His charm won me over and the way we chatted about our different tastes in music - it wasn’t long before I was spending more time at his bachelor pad and less time at my own wee flat!
We had some great times along the way with family and great friends, music playing a huge part in our social calendar and when able to, visiting Paradise to cheer on The Hoops. A love of travel took us to Mexico, Cuba, Cruising and more recently Turkey.
Kevin fought a long and hard battle with many periods of illness throughout the years - seeing the person you love becoming weaker didn’t make him any less of a man. The worry and heartache we experienced as a family made us stronger and more determined to raise awareness for people diagnosed or living with The Big C.
We never got to celebrate our 20 year anniversary as he was taken too soon, so why is today important - IT’S NOT!!!
EVERYDAY MATTERS - Hold on to the good times, make memories and celebrate the time you have to share with those that matter.

I want to say a huge Thank You on behalf of the family for all the kind words and condolences sent for Kevin.

No amount of words could describe or explain how much he meant to me, his boys, family and everyone that knew him or been in contact over the years.

One of the most important things Kevin wanted to do was raise awareness - of his illness, cancer and the rarity of malignant myopericytoma.

I hope to continue on with the page in Kevin’s memory and keep raising awareness and funds to help know more.

SARCOMA AWARENESS MONTH 1 - 31 JULY 2021

More than a month ago now my health took a 'dip'. I ended up in hospital for a couple of weeks due to yet another rare chest infection. I have also had many hospital appointments which along with the medication I am on makes me exhausted.

However, I have now finally been able to update oneoffifteen.com with an article about Sarcoma Awareness Month. You will find this article at:

Over the next few days I will be writing to my constituency Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP), my list MSPs and also Member of Parliament (MP), to highlight Sarcoma Awareness Month. I will also be including in my correspondence to them what life as a rare cancer survivor is like.

I was finally discharged on Sunday 20 June from Ward 43 NHS Fife Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (VHK).

To be able to continue to treat the infection in my chest, I now go to the NHS Fife OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy) Clinic at the VHK.

“Parental” means that the medication to treat infection needs to be given by injection into the veins, also know as intravenous (IV) injection.

Normally this means that I would have to stay in hospital, but some patients are well enough are well enough to be back at home etc between doses. OPAT helps patients get out of hospital sooner by providing a place where you can be treated once per day. Many hospitals across Scotland offer this service.

I’m on Day 3 now and the level of care and staff have all been great.

I’m at NHS Fife Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline for an appointment at the cardiology department.

I’ve been here several times before and the staff have always been really good and reassuring.
