Excited to discover how we’re celebrating black & white at our meeting on Wednesday.
What will you bring for the competition 🐼 🐧 & have you decided to wear black & white? 🦓
This month is our cheese & wine social event 🧀🍾🍷. There’ll be some fun quizzes & we’ll have time to chat. Hopefully the rain will hold off so we can enjoy the outside space at the Intact Centre. 🌺
Please bring any donation for the Food Pantry at the Intact Centre. 🥫
Finally, don’t forget your cup!!! ☕️

What a good turnout this week when 16 of us visited Penny Farm, World Horse Welfare at Preston New Road, Blackpool.
Emily, our guide, was so informative & it was lovely to meet some of the horses in their care. We were also lucky to see a 3 week old foal & its mother.
When there was a break in the rain, some of us took the opportunity to stroll around the paddock and see more of the horses enjoying themselves.
Our visit was, of course, followed by a delicious afternoon tea!

Our lovely members support St Catherine’s by volunteering. Well done Pat & Doreen! 👏👏👏

Earlier this week we were delighted to join our friends from Woodplumpton WI who kindly invited us to their visit to Hoghton Tower. The guided tour was fantastic & the afternoon tea delicious! 🍰 Thank you for the invitation ladies & we look forward to being able to go on more joint ventures in the future.

Our monthly meeting on Wednesday evening was certainly thought provoking as we discussed the WI Resolutions for this year.
Thank you Brenda for your informative presentation, explaining the options & giving us all things to reflect about on both subjects - Accessible Public Toilet Facilities & Action on Women’s Homelessness.
We await with anticipation the outcome of the vote which will be taken during the Annual Meeting held in June.

In May each year we celebrate the vital contribution made by nurses and midwives globally. Today is International Nurses Day and on May 5th we observed the International Day of the Midwife. Nurses and midwives play a crucial role in delivering person-centred, compassionate care, helping patients through treatment and supporting healthcare systems worldwide. We send our thanks to nurses and midwives everywhere for their service.

🪻Just a reminder about our meeting next Wednesday when we’ll be discussing two resolutions which the NFWI Board of Trustees have agreed to put forward to the Annual Council.
The NFWI have recommended that should both these Resolutions be passed, then
the following approaches would be taken:
‘Accessible Public Toilet facilities’ would initially be a local campaign, so a “bottom up” approach
‘Action on Women’s Homelessness’ would be a national focussed campaign.
After the discussion we will take a vote & submit the result to the National Federation Annual Meeting which takes place on 4 June.

🌹May sees our bi-monthly book 📚& jigsaw 🧩 sale & we will also have some sewing patterns 🪡 available to buy.

🌺We’re making great progress with our poppy knitting project. Doreen has plenty of yarn 🧶available & we have simple patterns should you wish to join in.
You’re also welcome to come to the weekly knit & natter session which takes place at the Intact Centre every Wednesday, starting at 11.00 a.m. (Some people knit, others natter & some stay for lunch!! 😉)

🌼We’re also having our usual collection for the Food Pantry at the Intact Centre. If you’re looking for inspiration - tinned goods, pasta, cereals, biscuits & toiletries are suggested. We know that all donations are gratefully received.

🪷Our first two outings this year took place in April & there’ll be details of future events which we’re planning so look out for the boards!! Our next trip is on 20 May to the Flower Bowl to play crazy golf 🏌🏼‍♀️ followed by lunch.

💐Looking forward to seeing you all - don’t forget your cups! ☕️
