The Muslim Bereavement Support Service is a non-profit organisation serving the Muslim community by supporting them in times of grief after suffering bereavement. Losing a loved one is an extremely painful experience and the range of feelings and emotions as well as physical reactions can be very confusing and further upsetting. For this reason we aim to help in any way we can during this difficul
t time. After suffering a loss you may feel a range of emotions and we are here to offer support immediately and in the weeks to follow. There are certain things that must be done quickly after suffering a loss, such as registering the death and arranging for a funeral. We can provide practical help as well as information. Additionally, we can provide you with a range of literature supplied by ourselves and our partners which may help you during this difficult time. Furthermore, you may want to talk to someone to share your feelings and emotions and we can help in the following ways:
Contact us via our telephone service and we will arrange for you to talk to one of our support specialists, either on the phone or face to face at an appropriate community venue. Contact us via our email helpline: [email protected]
Small group sessions with people going through a similar experience. Finally, we can provide guidance from an Islamic perspective on the death and bereavement process with advice on prayers and other religious aspects. As the need for bereavement support is most recognised in young mothers, we will continue to work with Gardens of Peace, hospitals and hospices to proactively contact bereaved mothers and offer our support. We welcome the opportunity to work with hospitals, hospices and other similar organisations to help support their bereavement support services, especially within a spiritual context to the Muslim community. Please do not hesitate to make contact if you would like us to be involved or require information and guidance in this regard.
