At our meeting on Thursday evening, after discussing and voting on the resolutions for the NFWI AGM in June, we enjoyed a wonderfully creative session making fabric rag bunting.

It was a really fun and relaxed evening with plenty of chatting, laughter and socialising while everyone got stuck into crafting. The finished bunting pieces looked fantastic, each one unique and full of character.

A lovely way to combine WI business with creativity and good company.

What a fantastic evening we had at our WI meeting last week!

From delicious cocktails and refreshing mocktails to plenty of laughs and lively chatter, it was one of those nights that reminds you just how special our group is. And the homemade canapés? Absolutely incredible, such a talented bunch we have!

It’s safe to say we really do know how to do it well 💃

Here’s to many more evenings just like this!

Many of our members are always getting involved in meaningful community projects. Just look at these gorgeous knitted premature baby bonnets, lovingly made by one of our talented members.

These little bonnets will soon be on their way to Ukraine, where they will provide comfort and warmth to some of the most vulnerable newborns.

We are so proud of the generosity and dedication shown by our members, small acts like these truly make a big difference.

Some of our members enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing and informative aromatherapy workshop led by Kim.

We learned all about different essential oils and their benefits, from helping with relaxation and sleep to boosting energy and easing stress. As Kim talked us through each one, we had the chance to smell the oils, which really brought everything to life.

We then got hands-on, making our own mood rollerball perfumes and beautiful car diffusers, decorated with dried flowers. It was such a lovely, creative session, and the room smelled amazing.

To top it all off, everyone went home with a gorgeous goody bag.

A big thank you to Kim for such an enjoyable workshop and to everyone who came along.

On Thursday, members enjoyed a very social meeting with lots of chat and laughter and a supper of soup & bread. Several members shared some special memories that they had, showing us some items to highlight the memories. We also had Councillor Abi Chapman-Miller join us and she talked about her recent appointment to the Parish Council telling us about her work and fielding various questions from members about local issues.

What a lovely evening we had last night with our fascinating talk on Gardens for Birds. It was both inspiring and practical, with so many ideas on how we can make our gardens welcoming havens for wildlife , from planting for year-round food to creating safe shelter and fresh water.

Standing at the Hurst Green train station this morning listening to the birdsong, I’m sure I could recognise a few more calls than I could before. It’s amazing how quickly you start to tune in once someone has opened your ears to it. I suspect many of us are looking at our gardens a little differently today.

As always, we were well supplied with homemade cakes and biscuits, and there was plenty of chatter and laughter. It was especially lovely to welcome some wonderful guests, we do hope you enjoyed the evening and that we’ll see you again very soon.

If you’re curious about joining us, whether you’re green-fingered or simply enjoy good company, you would be very warmly welcomed at one of our future meetings. There’s always something new to learn, good conversation to be had and, of course, cake and biscuits!

Extra-Curricular Adventures!

Some of our WI ladies swapped the village hall for the bright lights of London, heading off on a fabulous trip packed with foot-stomping entertainment, cocktails, and pasta!

There was also much laughter over food and drinks. It’s a brilliant reminder that the WI isn’t just about meetings, it’s about friendship, fun, and saying yes to new experiences.

These extra curricular outings are what make our WI so special: stepping out of our comfort zones, making memories, and enjoying time together. Who says learning and laughter can’t come with a cocktail on the side?

Feeling inspired? Come along and join us, you never know where the next adventure might take you!
