A customer called John came in today to buy Hazell Dean's classic 'Jealous Love'. She is best known for the top-ten hits "Searchin' (I Gotta Find a Man)", "Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go)" and "Who's Leaving Who". John is a friend of Hazell and she was very excited when John told her it was in our shop and asked him to buy it as she didn't have a copy.

GRANTS AVAILABLE TO LOCAL GROUPS

All profits from The Next Chapter go to local heritage and environmental projects in Huntingdonshire in collaboration with The Huntingdonshire History Festival. We aim to support community groups, schools, care homes, youth groups etc.

If you would like to apply for a grant (up to £1,000) to support heritage and environment-related activities in Huntingdonshire, please e-mail : [email protected].

Forms including criteria and eligibility can be downloaded here:

https://huntshistoryfest.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/hlhf-application-form.pdf

Grants can be applied for as long as any application meets the following conditions:

Grant applications are welcomed for projects that raise awareness and interest in the heritage and environment of Huntingdonshire.

Eligibility & Regular Criteria

Applications are welcomed from clubs, societies, charities, museums, educational institutions and other organisations for projects. Individuals and commercial companies cannot apply.

Any applicant organisation must have a group or organisational bank account into which funds can be paid. Personal bank accounts cannot be used.

Any project proposed for funding must promote and raise awareness of the heritage and environment of the old county of Huntingdonshire. This can relate to built heritage, people’s stories, museum collections, natural history, archaeology, historic sites, geology etc.

Projects must have a clear public benefit of promoting our local history to the wider public. This can be to specific target groups (e.g. schools, care homes etc)

Projects that have a proportion of funding from other sources as ‘match funding’ will have a stronger chance of success. This can be ‘in kind’ support such as services from another sponsor, staff or volunteer time etc.

Applications are particularly welcomed to support events that can be promoted as part of the festival’s programme of activity throughout the year.

Projects that promote heritage to groups that do not normally engage with it, introducing new audiences, will be prioritised.
No funds will be given for costs already incurred or committed.

Submission dates for applications are held quarterly, with deadlines held at 1 January, 1 April, 1 July, 1 October.

Decisions will be made by the festival’s board of trustees. Their decision is final.

Any project must be completed within 12 months of a successful application. Any funds remaining unspent must be returned to the festival. If the grantee cannot complete the project for any reason, any unspent funds must be refunded to the festival.

The festival must be credited in the annual accounts and report of the grantee, as well as in any publicity relating to the project.

The Next Chapter funded a group of adults with learning disabilities from Huntingdon Community Centre to go on a day visit to Duxford Airfield.
