The Great Fen - one of the most exciting habitat restoration projects ever undertaken in Britain - will create a beautiful fenland landscape of over 9,000 acres (fourteen square miles) between Huntingdon and Peterborough. We would be delighted if you would add any pictures or video you have taken while visiting the reserve: flora, fauna, activity days, but please be aware that this is a family gro

New Free Webinar! The Fens East Peat Partnership is hosting another fascinating talk. On 22nd June, hear all about 'Spatio-temporal variability in flora, peat and land use in the Great Fen.'

There are ongoing efforts to preserve and restore the Great Fen habitat to promote biodiversity and cultural heritage. To support these efforts, palaeoecological studies of multiple sites across the system have been undertaken using different lines of evidence to understand the dynamics of peat development and plant communities over millennia in response to human and non-human drivers. This talk will discuss the findings so far and how they can contribute to ongoing conservation efforts.

What a beautiful day for our curious young visitors from Alderman Jacobs Primary School! There was so much wildlife to enjoy, from red kites soaring overhead to newts swimming in the pond, spiky caterpillars to smooth, shiny woodlice, and bees, butterflies, moths and beetles in abundance. We are so incredibly lucky to have such wonderful volunteers in the Great Fen! They keep our reserves safe and accessible, help create and maintain the vast mosaic of habitats, monitor the wildlife that lives and visits here, assist at education and community events and create beautiful artwork and engaging materials for us to share. There are thousands of hours donated in time every year and we couldn't do so much without you. You are so valued and appreciated. THANK YOU!

What a treat to discover fellow Peatland educators at this beautiful exhibition at St Pancras train station. You can step inside The Composer’s Cabin, originally used at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It’s now been repurposed with South West Peatland Partnership to share the importance of protecting our Peatlands to international travellers.
