Public Access Defibrillators (PAD) are becoming more common.

Humbie has a Public Access Defibrillator located at the Humbie Hub which was installed in 2015 as part of a Scottish Government Scheme.

Humbie First Responders was set up back in January 2011 by local residents of Humbie.

Community First Responders are local volunteers who live and or work in the Humbie area and who are trained by The Scottish Ambulance Service to attend certain types of emergency calls in the Humbie area.

Their aim is to reach a potential life-threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

Their role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care until the more highly skilled Scottish Ambulance Service Ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment.
