The Ihya Trust is a charity set up to invest in the spiritual wellbeing of ourselves and our children through providing excellent Islamic scholarship here in the West. The name ‘Ihya’ is inspired by Imam Ghazali’s ‘Ihya Ulum al-Din’ (“The Revival of the Islamic Sciences”), and literally means ‘rejuvenation’. The Ihya Ulum al-Din is considered to be Imam Ghazali’s magnum opus, through which he seek
s to revive the Islamic Sciences, by combining the theological, legal and spiritual facets of the Islamic faith into a rejuvenated, revitalized expression of God’s will on Earth. In a similar way, we hope to rejuvenate the spiritual life of Muslims within Britain through making excellent scholarship readily accessible to all within the community. The Ihya Trust is our chance to make the change we need, and support the outstanding scholars of the future. The Ihya Trust reflects the aspirations and sentiments of thousands of young Muslims in Britain who endeavour to rediscover the Ghazzalian ethic for its application to our British context. The Ihya Trust is about supporting our dream of understanding and presenting God’s will on Earth within the West. The Ihyā Trust is our chance to make the change we need, and support the outstanding scholars of the future.
