Vintage Club at Age UK Hounslow is on the lookout for friendly, compassionate, and imaginative individuals eager to lend a hand at our day centre. We are seeking volunteer activity assistants who thrive on engaging with older adults, possess strong creative abilities, and can effectively lead small group activities.
These volunteers will play a vital role in assisting our support workers in organizing a variety of enjoyable activities designed to enhance the wellbeing and interests of our elderly participants.

The Vintage Club at Age UK Hounslow recently whisked its members back to the fabulous 1950s with a delightful diner experience. As melodies from the Rat Pack and Buddy Holly filled the air, our charming teddy girls served classic milkshakes, soda floats, ice cream sundaes, donuts, and cookies.
The atmosphere buzzed with nostalgia as we all shared fond memories and discussed significant events from that era, reflecting on how those times shaped our lives.
Engaging experiences like this fit perfectly into our mission to honour and cherish the unique stories, history, and individuality of our vintage club community.

Vintage Club kicked off their Chinese New Year themed week with a delightful treat: fortune cookies! Everyone had a great time cracking them open and reading the fortunes after an exciting game of Chinese checkers. Fun fact: fortune cookies are considered a symbol of good luck and prosperity!

The festive season has been a joyous occasion at Age UK Hounslow’s Vintage Club, where we've been enjoying a variety of Christmas-themed games. Vintage Club members engaged in delightful fair-style activities like hook a candy cane, bauble roll, bows in a box, and snowball toss, all in the hopes of winning some exciting prizes. However, the standout event has been the oven glove game. In this hilarious challenge, the unwrapper dons a pair of oven gloves and tries to unwrap a gift until someone rolls a six, at which point the gift and gloves are passed to the next player. This game has filled our recent days with laughter and joy.

The Vintage Club at Age UK Hounslow embraced the festive cheer this Monday by getting hands-on with some delightful holiday activities. They decorated Yule logs and crafted mini mince pies, all of which were beautifully packaged in festive boxes to take home. Now, they can savor these treats with their loved ones throughout the Christmas season.

Last Wednesday, Age UK Hounslow hosted a vibrant Diwali Celebration for our members, uniting the community in honour of this significant festival of lights. The event was a delightful occasion, brimming with enthusiasm and happiness, creating a truly memorable experience for everyone involved.

The celebration featured a range of engaging activities that encouraged participation and fostered a sense of community. Attendees enjoyed delicious food, lively performances, including traditional dance and music, and the opportunity to take part in a Bhangra interactive session. The party showcased the rich cultural heritage associated with Diwali. The rhythmic beats and vibrant costumes captivated the audience, inviting everyone to join in the festivities.

At Age UK Hounslow, our Vintage club embraces every opportunity to celebrate, and this week was no exception as we hosted a delightful royal tea party in honour of His Royal Highness's birthday. The atmosphere was vibrant, adorned with Union Jack decorations that filled the room, while our elegant bone china cups graced the tables, ready to serve an array of delectable cakes artfully arranged on tiered stands. Dressed in our finest British hats, we savoured generous cups of tea, joined in a nostalgic wartime singalong, and enjoyed lively conversations with friends. The festivities continued with an entertaining game of royal family picture bingo, adding an extra layer of fun to our joyous gathering.
