At our July meeting we celebrated summer with "A Day at the Races" theme, some delicious scones and a glass of Pimm's. Milliner Susan entertained us with fascinating facts about hats and showed us her collection. The winner of the best hat competition sported a titfer in the slanted style preferred by Princess Kate.

Hats are important in this hot weather and they are also the topic of our next meeting on Monday 20 July. You'll find out how they are made from our speaker, a milliner. If you feel like dressing up, 'A Day at the Races' is our theme and we will have Pimm's and strawberries to get you in the mood. Please bring your own glass. This year at our AGM we will be sampling a Swedish smorgasbord and having a quiz about Sweden. Please bring something you would like to drink, a glass and a knife and fork to tuck into these delights.
Our committee will be up for election too after we review the successful year we have had. If you would like to help we always appreciate extra committee members so please let us know either beforehand by emailing [email protected] or on the night.

It's our 4th birthday! We'll be celebrating at Monday's meeting with cake and bubbly. Also on the theme of feeling good, we will be joined by Howard to speak about the benefits of tai chi. Those who wish to can enjoy a taster session of this ancient gentle exercise.
