Tiptoe, Hordle & Everton Greening Campaign Encouraging our community to make changes to combat climate change

10/03/2026

Thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of residents who came to the Local Plan Review Drop-in session at Hordle Pavilion yesterday. It was a huge turnout - it was busy right through from 1pm to 7pm.

Please make sure that you now register your views with the official NFDC consultation here: https://www.newforest.gov.uk/localplan

The deadline is 20th March. This is the most critical time for helping to shape the future of our community.

Please take action and have your say. (You don't have to answer every question and there is a summary document available on the link above).

❄️ Freezing temperatures are here – and wildlife needs our help ❄️ Winter can be one of the hardest times of year for wild animals, but a few small actions can make a big difference:

🦔 Look before you tidy
Hedgehogs and other animals may be sheltering under leaves, log piles or sheds. Please check carefully before clearing or lighting bonfires.

💧 Put out fresh water
Ponds and puddles can freeze. A shallow bowl of fresh water, checked daily, can be a real lifeline.

🍎 Offer the right food
Birds, hedgehogs and other wildlife need extra energy in cold weather. Remember – never give milk to hedgehogs.

🏠 Provide shelter
Leave leaf piles, add a hedgehog house, or create a quiet, sheltered corner in your garden.

🚗 Slow down on icy roads
Wild animals move more slowly in freezing conditions, especially at dawn and dusk.

If you find an injured or struggling wild animal, please contact your local wildlife rescue for advice 💚
Thank you for helping protect wildlife during this cold spell ❄️🦊🦉

A short video about the project is here: https://youtu.be/MEXwpfahFuc?si=Ca8_VwlSxUdb5Yn6

The team of volunteers meet twice a fortnight to help transform the old marl pit into a lovely space for all our community to enjoy. Please spare a minute to vote for them and all their hard work. Thank you! https://www.cprehampshire.org.uk/hampshire-choice-award-2025/
