Escape to the Woods: Roots Forest School Tonnau’s Tropical Garden Party! 🌿✨

Looking for the ultimate weekend family adventure?

We are bringing the festival vibes to the woodland at Tonnau festival 10-12th July Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm daily and every single activity is completely FREE!

Escape the heat under the shade of the canopy and join us around the campfire for a magical weekend of crafting, creating, and connecting.

We’ll be making custom festival headdresses, crafting woodland wands, and so much more.

We are also thrilled to host some incredible guest collaborations this year, featuring wild foraging with Spirit of the Hedgerider, expressive charcoal art with Kallum Hopkins, and vibrant graffiti workshops with Darrel Soap Spray.

Bring the family, dive into nature, and make some unforgettable memories. No booking required just turn up and join the fun! 🔥🪵

🌿 SATURDAY
10:30 AM | Wild Foraging with theHedgerider Jules Cooper
Step into the living pantry of our native Welsh hedgerows! Discover how to spot, gather, and appreciate the incredible wild resources growing right under our noses. It’s the perfect way to connect with nature, get active, and learn the ancient secrets of natural food and remedies.

12:00 PM | Expressive Charcoal Drawing with Kallum Hopkins
Let the forest be your muse. Join local artist Kallum for a hands on, 2-hour workshop exploring texture, tone, and bold mark-making. Don't worry about getting a little messy—that's half the fun! All materials are provided.

🌿 SUNDAY
11:00 AM | Woodland Sword Crafting
Become a master crafter! We’ll hunt for the perfect fallen branches, learn safe hand-tool techniques, practice our knot-tying, and build a custom wooden sword for your kids to take home.

12:00 PM | Forest Graffiti Workshop with Darrel Soap Spray
Where street art meets the great outdoors! Join urban artist Darrel Soap Spray for an epic 2-hour introduction to spray painting. Learn the basics, experiment with color, and unleash your creativity on a unique canvas under the trees.

🌿👶 To our beautiful Tree Babies community… Thank You 👶🌿

As the woods quieten down for a few weeks, my heart is just so incredibly full. I wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to every single one of you who makes our Tree Babies sessions so magical.

To the little adventurers and the beautiful chaos you bring…..thank you:
💦 To the puddle-lovers who jump in with both feet.
🐜 To the curious minds and budding foragers teaching us to look closer.
🎨 To the ones who keep me on my toes, completely hijacking the plan and diverting us into brilliant new crafts.
🏎️ To the masters of the car tracks and the ones who only have eyes for the golf ball runs.
🤫 To the quiet observers, the super loud explorers, the eager helpers, and the little ones learning the beautiful, big lesson of how to share.

To the mums, dads, grandparents, and carers: thank you for your energy, your warmth, and the beautiful community you are building here. The friendships formed over a wild cuppa are just wonderful to watch.

To Babi Actif for trusting in us to deliver sessions, and their support.

And finally, to these woods—for holding us so gently, rain or shine, through the happy days and the heavy, tired days we all face caring for little people 🌳✨

🫶We are taking a little pause now and won't be running sessions until the end of July due to some exciting events happening on the estate.

We are missing you all already! Keep exploring, stay wild, and I can't wait to welcome you back under the canopy soon. 💛

Join us tomorrow for Tree Babies. Nature boxes last week to take home, and inspire us on our walks with natures treasures. Looking at an abandoned birds nest and the strength and skill it holds.

Join us this week for more crafting, making cakes in the mud kitchen, swing, climb, play, create and connect!

10am-11.30 with Babi Actif Carreglwyd Estate this is our last session in this block tomorrow!

No session Friday as there is a wedding on the estate.

We ll be taking a break after that as the estate closes for events. Keep an eye on here for our next dates!

Goodbye lovely “Emily” caravan! We have loved being able to offer her for for glamping the past two years, all proceeds went to Love Support Unite UK. Thank you so much Gayle Berry-Love Activator for donating her use!
