If you care about Blakeney, please attend the Parish council meeting Tuesday 5 may at 7pm to consider planning application

PU/26/0880 –Notification of intended change of use of a former agricultural building from storage use to a hotel (!!!)

This refers to the endless attempts by the owner of the recently renamed “ Agar Farm” to achieve value enhancing planning permission. Last week it was to claim that as a “ Farm” he should enjoy permitted development rights for a 50 ( fifty) pitch camp site ( includes mobile home use), for agricultural land. Today, the old shed there is deemed capable of being converted to a hotel!!!

Through showing our esteemed parish councillors our views their recommendation will reflect local knowledge.

CHEAPER ENERGY
Energy Local Club
An Energy Local Club is a Cooperative set up by a group of local households who form a Club with local renewable energy generators to use this power in order to get a better deal for everyone.
Energy producers in the area are able to sell their surplus energy at better rates than they would get from their energy suppliers and local consumers are able to buy excess energy produced again at more favourable rates – a better deal for both producers and consumers.
Further an Energy Local Club can
• Increase awareness of, and contribute to, promoting sustainability and the reduction of carbon emissions
• Encourage new local renewable generation
• Help shift demand to when renewable output is high
• Help keep economic value within the local community
If we are able to secure adequate funding Blakeney Village Hall is hoping to install an array of some 76 solar panels on the roof. There will times during the day when excess energy will be produced and in the normal way this would be sold back to our supplier. If, however, an Energy Local Club were formed the excess could be sold at advantageous rates to local consumers and for the Village Hall.
Blakeney is within the Stody Primary Substation area and to form an Energy Local Club producers and consumers have to be within the same area. The area covers local villages and extends east to Holt (or at least part of it) and south to Briston and Melton Constable.

I am writing this because I would like to hear from consumers and green energy producers in the Stody Primary Substation area to explore the possibility of setting up an Energy Local Club. More information about how an Energy Local Club works can be found at https://energylocal.org.uk/.

May Madness.

We have all started receiving brochures from councillor wannabes here vin Wells Division. But for the biggest issue of all there is stereophonic silence from our candidates. Simply, under Local Government Reorganisation division, Wells and the surrounding parishes – Holkham, Warham, Stiffkey, Morston, Blakeney, Cley, Salthouse, Kelling, Wighton, Walsingham, Barsham, Sculthorpe, Ryburgh, Stibbard, Thursford, The Snorings, Kettlestone, Gunthorpe, Hindringham, Binham, Field Dalling and Wiveton, are to be transferred to the East Norfolk Unitary which will be run out of Great Yarmouth.

This is completely insane and our interests will be given zero attention.

I am strongly opposed to this administrative assassination, and I hope that all those who share my concern will put this view across with vigour to the various councillor candidates we have.
