Arts For Life Project Creating a community where creativity heals, confidence grows, and every young person feels seen, supported, and inspired.

The Arts for Life Project is a Charity providing arts on prescription. We encourage integration, communication and education for mental wellbeing, covering a wide spectrum of ability for all young people. The project provides services and support programmes that have been proven to create happier, healthier individuals, both mentally and physically. Our range of activities focus on integrating those with mental health and learning difficulties into the wider community.

I have been sitting here trying to find the right words for this post, and honestly, I'm not sure there are enough of them.

Today, Arts for Life Project completed on the purchase of our studio, the home of our young people, our programmes, and our community.

This didn't happen easily. When our landlord put the property up for sale, we faced a very real threat of losing everything we had built here. The thought of our young people not having this space... it was simply not an option we were willing to accept. So we pushed. Hard. And today, it is OURS.

I want to say the most enormous thank you to Penny, our incredible Chairperson, who has been absolutely instrumental in making this happen, her dedication, wisdom and unwavering belief in what we do has been everything. I genuinely don't have the words.

And to my wonderful team who have kept this charity's heart beating every single day throughout all of this. While the wheels were turning behind the scenes, they just kept showing up for our young people with the same love and dedication they always do. That means more to me than you know.

AND then, something happened that I simply have to share.

One hour after hearing we had completed on the property, there was a knock at the door. I opened it to find a lovely young man standing behind the most stunning bouquet of white flowers. He said, "Good morning, I wonder if you would like these?"

I honestly thought someone had sent them as a congratulations, but very few people even knew. I said yes, of course, and he smiled and said there were many more where that came from.

Parked across the road by the garage was his van, absolutely FULL of the most incredible flowers you have ever seen. All white. Every single one.

One of our wonderful parents had said to me today that the 10th June, is a very lucky date and that white is the colour of the day. I couldn't quite believe what I was looking at.

I knew straight away, these flowers needed to go to our wonderful parents on this most special and auspicious of days. What a gift to be able to give something back to the people who trust us with their young people every single day.

I thanked him so much and then asked his name.

I am not making this up.

He said... "My name's Beth."

I just stood there! In disbelief!!!

Some days, the universe really does speak. Today was one of those days.

Arts for Life Project now has a permanent home for many many years to come. And it has arrived, wrapped in white flowers!

At Arts for Life Project, action is at the heart of everything we do - every single day.
Action looks like a young person picking up a paintbrush for the first time and discovering something they never knew they had.
Action looks like hands in clay, a voice finally heard, a smile that wasn't there last week.
Action looks like nearly 200 young people aged 8--24 walking through our doors every week, and leaving a little lighter than when they came in.
We believe that creativity heals. That being seen matters. That every young person deserves a safe space to simply be themselves.
This week - and every week - we are taking action for young people's mental health.

This week we have started something truly magical.

Our pressed flower project, and its been a joy watching our young people handle the flowers and foliage with such care, concentration & consideration.

Excellent for fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination as using the tweezers is like a delicate operation... just look at a few of these!!!
