🐝🌼 WOW! WHAT A BUSY WEEKEND FOR BLOOMING BAIRNS! 🌼🐝

What an absolutely fantastic weekend we’ve had! Our amazing volunteers have been out and about across Falkirk, making a real difference to our community. 💚
Here’s just a taste of what we’ve been up to!

🌿 SATURDAY’S ACTIVITIES
🗑️ Litter-picking team: Our dedicated team was out clearing the car park and surrounding area at Manor Street. They managed to fill an incredible 25 bags of litter — and they’re not finished yet!

🙋 Volunteer recruitment day: We held a recruitment day at the Falkirk Delivers office and signed up six new volunteers. A huge welcome to you all!

🎃 Witches Trail and Halloween Fayre: Another team was busy in the Howgate Shopping Centre, promoting our Witches Trail and Halloween Fayre. They also secured sponsorship for two of our barrels. Fantastic work!

🌸 SUNDAY’S ACTIVITIES
🌼 Acoustic Cafe: One team was busy maintaining the planters and replacing the flowers with beautiful winter displays.

🌻 Creating our garden at Gulios: We also had a team at Gulios, working hard to create our garden and continuing our efforts to make Falkirk a greener, more beautiful place for everyone to enjoy!

🪴 Cockburn Street: Our volunteers were working on the concrete planters opposite Cockburn Street, keeping our town looking its best.

🌺 Lint Riggs, Corner Cafe and Callender Coffee House: Another team was busy replacing the summer flowers with winter ones, helping to keep Falkirk colourful throughout the colder months.

💙 Supporting our young people: We also had a member of the Boys’ Brigade completing more hours towards their King’s Badge. We’re delighted to support young people in gaining valuable experience through community volunteering.

🛠️ Barrel upgrades: And, of course, another team member was hard at work upgrading our barrels, ready for future projects!

💚 THAT’S WHAT COMMUNITY SPIRIT LOOKS LIKE!
From litter-picking and planting to recruiting volunteers, supporting young people and improving our town, our volunteers continue to give their time, energy and enthusiasm to make Falkirk a greener, cleaner and more beautiful place to live.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who gives up their time to support Blooming Bairns. Every hour, every bag of litter and every flower planted makes a difference. 🌷👏

🎃HALLOWEEN CRAFTING SESSION! 🎃

We are so excited to welcome Carrie Taylor Art to Howgate Shopping Centre on Halloween, where she will be running a spooky arts and craft session.

Little ones can create three spooky Halloween crafts to take home and show off! With plenty of creativity, colour and a sprinkle of Halloween magic, it’s the perfect activity for crafty little hands. 🕷️

⏰ Sessions available 11am-4pm
🎨 Ages 5+ | 30-minute sessions

We have created Falkirk's first raingarden!

As we are preparing to transform the neglected area on Arnot st by Gullios takeaway we noticed that the down pipe from the building just empties into the planting area! This could be an issue but with some creative thinking we turned this 'issue' into a positive 😊

The rainwater will still empty into the garden but we have created a channel for it to flow into through the garden. The large bits of stone, brick and concrete slow the water down allowing it to soak into the ground naturally.

This Saturday, 24th October we are planting this area with plants planted into gravel to create a gravel garden. Plant choices are suitable for dry periods and wet and suitable for our changing climate.

Join us on Saturday to garden in the town centre!

What a difference a litter pick makes!

The bus station was in a real mess, and our volunteers have made a great start on tidying it up. 👏 There’s still more to do -- think the the weeds need to be added our list!

And just round the corner at Renellas.....

A big thank you to the 3rd Falkirk Boys’ Brigade, back with us to complete the planting at Renellas. 👏 Their hard work is part of their King’s Badge, the Boys’ Brigade’s top award, and it’s making a real difference to the space!

Nice improvements all round at that end of town.

🎃 Follow the trail and collect stamps in your very own Pumpkin Passport at all the participating shops shown on the map!

🏆 Fancy dress competitions for adults are also included, with prizes to be won! So get creative, dress up and join in the fun!

🗓️ The trail runs until 1st November, so there’s still time to get involved!

💚 Bring the family, explore Falkirk town centre, support our fantastic local businesses and enjoy some Halloween fun with Blooming Bairns! 🐝🌼

Beautiful flower filled half barrels available to sponsor in an attractive location at the Registry Office Building on Glebe St and Lower Newmarket St. Each barrel features a personalised, branded plaque with your choice of wording, such as "Sponsored by [Your Name or business name]" or "In memory of a loved one".
