The Travers Foundation

The Travers Foundation A volunteer run charity helping young people in Rutland, Leicestershire & Northamptonshire achieve their dreams in sport, music & the arts.

"When you were growing up, who were your heroes? Chances are they were sportsmen or women, actors or musicians. You probably had posters of them on your walls, watched their every event or film, or bought all of their records. Young people need role models to look up to and provide inspiration. The problem these days is that to reach the peak of your profession in sport, the creative or performing

arts, you also need to have lots of funding as well as lots of talent. Not everybody has financial support, so this is where charities can assist youngsters from all backgrounds fulfil their dreams." The Travers Foundation is a Northamptonshire based Charity that helps 13 to 30 year-olds achieve their dreams in sports, the creative arts and the performing arts. We help local teams, groups and individuals in Rutland, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire to achieve their potential.

Charity Music Nights at The Blue Bell Raise Over ÂŁ1,000 for Local Young Talent

The Travers Foundation is celebrating the outstanding success of its three-week Charity Music Fridays held at The Blue Bell, Gretton, which together raised over ÂŁ1,000 to support young people in sport, music, and the performing arts.

The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to Peter McGowan and the entire Blue Bell team for their fantastic support, enthusiasm, and community spirit. Their hospitality created the perfect setting for three packed evenings of brilliant local music.

Equally, the charity wishes to thank all the attendees for their generosity and good humour, which helped make these fundraisers such a triumph. The level of support from the village has been nothing short of remarkable.

The final night reached a spectacular crescendo with a stunning performance from Lily Beth, aged 15, one of the Travers Rising Stars. Accompanied by Oscar, aged 17, she delivered a captivating set and brought the house down with her original song “Not Idea.” Her talent and confidence left the audience cheering for more.

Earlier events featured memorable performances from Holly, Ayesha, and The Wot Now, showcasing the impressive breadth of young talent across the area.

Terry Forsey, Chairman of The Travers Foundation, said:
“We couldn’t be more delighted — three great nights, huge local support, and more than £1,000 raised. Not bad for a few Fridays in November! A massive thank you to Peter and his team, and to everyone who came along, cheered, sang, and donated. Our Rising Stars shone – and I think even the pub walls are still vibrating after that finale!”

The funds raised will go directly towards helping more young people across the region access the opportunities they need to thrive.

Lily Beth Wins Travers Rising Star Trophy at The Blue Bell Inn

Fifteen-year-old performer Lily Beth was presented with the prestigious Travers Rising Star Trophy last night — the sixth award since its launch in 2019, and the first to be given by The Travers Foundation for continuous outstanding performances throughout the year.

A packed audience at The Blue Bell Inn, Gretton, enjoyed a captivating evening as Lily opened her set with a collection of stage musical classics before switching to modern pop favourites. She closed the night with her own powerful original song, Not Ideal, performed as a highly requested encore.

Kieran Forsey, Head of Travers Rising Stars, commented:

“At just 15, Lily Beth has shown a range and musical maturity far beyond her years. She really is a rising star and a worthy winner of the Travers Award.”

The handcrafted trophy - affectionately nicknamed a “Travers,” much like an “Oscar” in Hollywood - was created by local sponsor Majestic Joinery, adding a touch of community craftsmanship to the occasion.

The night marked a proud moment for everyone supporting young talent at The Travers Foundation.

The Wot Now Brave the Weather for Corby Old Village Christmas Lights Switch-On

Award-winning duo The Wot Now, winners of the Travers Rising Stars 2025 Best Performer Award at the GlastonBlaby Charity Festival, braved wind and rain to deliver a spirited performance at the Corby Old Village Christmas Lights switch-on.

Despite the wintry weather, the pair played a five-song set featuring their original tracks Out of Time and The Woolf, alongside festive crowd-pleasers. Their distinctive renditions of Queen’s Thank God It’s Christmas and The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York drew enthusiastic applause from the gathered crowd.

Kieran Forsey, Head of Travers Rising Stars, praised the duo’s talent and resilience:

What makes The Wot Now so special is Katie’s wonderful voice, Six’s expressive guitar work, and their remarkable harmonies. Having won TRS25 in the summer, they’re clearly heading for great things in 2026.”

The evening marked another outstanding live performance from The Wot Now — proof that not even stormy skies can dampen their passion or connection with the audience.
