Have you been inspired to start volunteering this week? Or are you ready for a new challenge?

Why not volunteer with Go Forth and Clyde on their Board of Trustees? A charitable organisation based at Lock 16 in Camelon, Go Forth and Clyde operate on and around the canal to support local community development and to encourage the wider public to use the canals in ways that support their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. If you have a passion for the outdoors, especially the local canal network, then Go Forth and Clyde could be the opportunity you’re looking for.

Bailliefields Community Hub is community-first and forward-thinking organisation focused on improving local health and wellbeing as well as developing community connection through the creation of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

This Volunteers’ Week, their Community Sport and Health Officer Anne recognised the positive impact of volunteering, highlighting:

“Volunteers are genuinely at the heart of everything we do at Bailliefields - we simply couldn’t be the Place For All we aim to be without them. From our WRCC coaches giving up their Thursday evenings and weekends to support our junior cricket groups, to the amazing volunteers who help run our dementia-friendly Social Café and our Try Something New group, we’re so grateful for the energy, kindness, and commitment they bring to our Community Hub. If anyone is thinking about volunteering - with us or with any other organisation - I’d absolutely encourage it. It can lead to so many unique opportunities and a real sense of belonging.”

Alloa Community Shed is all about improving mental health and wellbeing through hands on creative activities and projects.

“We tackle a real issue - isolation and poor mental health. What we do is simple, but effective and the impact is long term. We see people come in quiet and withdrawn and over time they build confidence, friendships and skills.”

This Volunteers’ Week we’re saying thank you to the volunteers. Want to help or join in? Visit their page here - https://bit.ly/3PCdcy3
