🌟 Volunteer Week Spotlight🌟

At **Building for the Future**, we know that volunteering doesn’t just change the life of the person giving their time, it creates a beautiful ripple effect that transforms entire support networks. 💙

Meet **Dan Woolford** and his incredible carer, **Toby**! Dan has practically grown up with our charity, journeying from a young service user to a passionate, dedicated volunteer. But the inspiration doesn't stop there. When Dan steps up to give back, Toby is right there volunteering alongside him!

🗣️ In Toby’s Words:

> "Supporting someone to volunteer is about more than helping them access opportunities - it’s about seeing their confidence grow, their skills develop, and their independence flourish. It is a pleasure to support Dan on his volunteering journey with Building for the Future - it's a wonderful charity."

Thank you, Dan and Toby, for teaming-up to give back to BftF!!

🌟 Look What Our BFTF Plus Crew Has Been Up To! 🌟

Wow, what a month May was! Our BFTF Plus young adults have been absolutely unstoppable starting with fundraising at the May Fayre to learning new skills, giving back to the community and living life to the fullest.

* **🌱 Green Thumbs & Fresh Veggies:** We’ve been busy in the garden planting vegetables. We can't wait to see (and taste!) the results of our hard work.
* **📰 Big Magazine Progress:** Work on our new magazine, *Ability Plus*, is in full swing! We hosted a fantastic Q&A session with local magazine publisher Nikki Ochtman from *RG10 Magazine*, who gave us an insider’s look into production and distribution. Thank you, Nikki!
* **🎳 Out & About:** We hit the lanes for bowling, enjoyed the fresh air while boating, and had another high-energy, competitive Boccia sports session.
* **🎨 A Thank You:** Our team collaborated on a beautiful mosaic bird bath. This gorgeous piece of art was presented as a special thank-you gift to the Mayor of Wokingham for choosing Building for the Future as her charity of the year for 2025/2026! 🕊️
* **🥪 The Best Part of the Week:** Our Lunch Club continues to be a massive highlight. There is nothing better than bringing our sandwiches and sharing cake, fruit, crisps, and non-stop laughter over a sociable two hours together. 🍰✨

🙌 Want to join the fun in June?

Our 'Plus' service is all about building friendships, learning new lifestyle skills, staying active, and - most importantly - having a great time. If you are a young disabled adult looking for a welcoming, lively, and supportive group, **we would love to meet you! Drop us a DM or email: [email protected]

Thank you to our volunteer team who helped us at last week's Wokingham Lions' May Fayre.
Not only did you help us raise vital funds and awareness for our charity but look what the Lions have done!
To celebrate their 30th anniversary of the May Fayre they've donated £700 to each of the charities present on the day so thanks to our Plus and leadership volunteer team we have an extra £700 to go towards our new Ability Hub. Your volunteering means so much!
