Trees Are Good Growing Fruit for People and Planet
Fruit tree Nursery & Community tree planting projects We look forward to planting some trees with you''

Trees Are Good was founded by Leo and Emma because of their passion for trees, the environment and their belief that all communities should have access to fruit trees. After spending 15 years in Nottingham running a busy community garden and tree planting scheme across Nottinghamshire, they moved back to Oakington, Cambridgeshire in 2021 to be near family and their cider orchard which was planted

in 2010 for their cider business Blue Barrel Cider. In 2021 they established Trees Are Good to channel their love & experience of trees and community tree planting projects.

''We plant trees in all settings, from schools, to recreation parks and council verges. We are able to advise on the best tree for your space, down to the variety of apple whether it be an early variety or a later cropping variety. We can offer advice and support in sourcing funding, run community planting days and follow up with tree maintenance to ensure your trees will survive and thrive. We also offer consultation to those wishing to plant their own orchard or want advice in setting up a community orchard.

How cool are these tree signs?πŸŽ¨πŸ«ŸπŸ–ŒοΈ

The wonderful folk of who helped arrange the tree planting day on Sunday also painted lots of pieces of wood with black board paint which residents were able to use to create their own tree sign.

Residents were encouraged to adopt a tree and were able to dedicate their tree and leave a sign marking the one they had planted.

We did this last year and I think it really works to help people take ownership of their tree. Last year only one tree died out of all the trees we planted which is an amazing success rate.

People take pride in what they have planted and ensure it is watered and cared for so it not only survives it thrives!

Next time you're in Northstowe go and check out these cool signs and the trees they belong to.

Wow what a turn out! A fantastic number of residents turned up on Sunday to plant a variety of native trees and fruit trees near Pioneer park along the water course which runs through Northstowe.

A whopping 74 people came and dug holes, banged in stakes and planted trees.

We managed to plant over 50 standard trees and a further 50 whips.

A massive thanks to for rallying all the residents to help on the day, and providing the plaques for people to design for their trees and to Tom from Greenbelt who enabled this to happen.

This project was funded by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fund for nature through Natural Cambridgeshire and Cambridge community foundation.

A wonderful afternoon yesterday being shown round the grounds of by Derry and Ylana with Anna from Coton Orchard.

Collecting some Scion wood to do a bud graft on one of Anna's nursery trees to add to her Story orchard at Coton Orchard which is sadly currently under threat from developers for a .

It is currently going to a public Inquiry and we have all our fingers and toes crossed that the fight against this bonkers busway is successful because if it isn't we will see 100s of trees and hedgerows cut down and neighbouring farms calved in half despite there being a much more viable (and less destructive) route down the road.
