Hi everyone.

I’m really sorry for the lack of activity on my pages, I really appreciate the messages of concern.

4 weeks ago, on the 2nd August I was knocked of my bike and injured my lower back. I also damaged my bike in the process meaning I won’t be able use it until I get it fixed. With my back injury I didn’t feel comfortable carrying out any exercises, as it even hurt when I walked.

After 3 weeks as my back started to feel better I had a very bad IBS flare up which was not pleasant in the slightest meaning I was unable to leave the house for nearly 4 days. This has put me right back and affected my mood, motivation and drive. I found myself not wanting to get out and exercise which is frustrating as I was really enjoying myself.

That being said the show must go on! I know I’m only going start to feel better physically and mentally until I get out there and exercise. I promised to myself when I started this journey that I wouldn’t let anything stand in my way and that is what I’m letting myself do. Time to dust myself off and get of this challenge and carry on with the great progress I was making.

I will be working out what my current negative variance is and start to work at catching up. I am really thankful for all the support and donations I have received so far. I’m hoping everyone one will continue to support my journey despite his set back.

It’s time to finish what I started!

This is exactly why you shouldn’t be caught up on what the scales are saying. I’ve had to add a new notch in my belt and my jeans have become loose.

Being happy with your body image is much more important than what weight you are. I look at my Apple Watch everyday and see my VO2 max levels increasing, my resting heart rate dropping and most of all see recovery times decrease. On top of that my physical ability grows with every workout.

Stay true to you and believe in your own abilities! 💚💪🏻💙

Thursdays are for thanking here at Derian House, and on a miserable day like today there's nothing better than celebrating our selfless superstars! 🤩

💚 James aka 2022 Miles To Fitness took on his biggest challenge so far over the weekend, hiking up Bowfell in the Lake District in his mission to walk, run or cycle 2022 miles in 365 days! He's only a month in and has already raised £942!

💚 Peter Appleton, alongside his son Darryl and nephews David and Craig, completed the UK Special Forces Load Bearing “Fan Dance” event in the Brecon Beacons. It was a test of endurance over mountain terrain, carrying weight and with a tight cut off time.

💚 The team at Hays UK absolutely smashed the Preston Bike Binge last week to raise money for some great causes including Derian House.

💚 Life for a Life Memorial Forests are are undertaking an ambitious project to plant 8,000 new trees at Beacon Fell Country Park to restore Starling Wood. The project will deliver many social benefits including supporting us here at Lancashire's children's hospice.

💚 The dedicated team at Hobbycraft Preston held a Superhero Saturday where they took part in numerous activities to raise money for us.

So at the end of week 7 this is how the tracker looks 286.83 Miles covered in total with a positive variance of 12.69 miles. Despite being short on week 6 & 7.

Some really big challenges in week 7 including my first proper hike up Bowfell. All I want to say is, if cycling is worth half, then hiking should be worth double 😂

Tuesday was the start of week 8, time to push on and grind and endure!

Yesterday was such an amazing day and a massive personal achievement for me. Went Hiking up Bowfell with my best mate Haydn who has previously done this route. Taking on my biggest challenge so far I was shocked at how well I coped and how strong my body really was. Couldn’t have done it without you H. Was advised to take a towel and swimming shorts to go for a wild swim, it was simply amazing! I can’t wait to get out and do another.

That being said, my legs are very tender today! Thanks to everyone who has supported so far! I will always continue to push myself! 💚💪🏻💙

After two days of not working out, Tuesday as I attended my cousins Wedding and Wednesday as it was just too hot, I decided to get up early and go for a ride.

I knew I needed to catch up on my negative variance so I decided to make it a big one. Foolishly I left the house without eating breakfast, so could feel myself lacking energy towards the end.

I know some people will look at this and think that 2022 miles will be easy if I can cover 34 miles in one session. But please remember that each ride is only worth half of its total and this is by no stretch of the imagination easy for me. I give 110 % effort into every mile cover and have nothing left at the end.

Always remember that everyone’s capabilities and strengths are different. 💪🏻💚

After a fabulous day yesterday I was planning a 8 mile walk tonight to catch up with the negative variance for week 7.

I’ve decided that it is far to humid out there tonight and I honestly think I will do myself more harm than good.

Instead I have decided to go out at about 5ish in the morning before work. Stay safe in the heat everyone, stay hydrated and listen to what your body is telling you! 💚

No workout yesterday.

Instead I had the privilege and honour of walking my cousin down the aisle. Was such a fantastic day and I thank you both for considering me to be such a big part of it. Chelsea you looked beautiful, hard to think your were that same girl who used to run around in trackies!

I wish you both all the very best for the future and a lifetime of happiness and love. I know Auntie Doreen was proud of the woman you have become 💚💙
