Sunny Hill #306
Saturday 22nd August

What a glorious, Saturday at Sunny Hill! Summer has well and truly settled over our lovely park, bringing with it that fabulous, warm energy where everyone comes together, chats away, and generally soaks up the good vibes.

It was a cosy, intimate gathering of 57 parkrunners, joggers, and walkers tackling our famous hills today.

A massive congratulations to Tom (Thomas Hamper), who led the field home as our first male finisher in a sharp time of 20:41 and bagged a brilliant new Personal Best to boot as he recalled he was doing bar code scanning too! Great job. I was the first female finisher by chance as our best runners were all away, so not much of a merit in there.

A extra warm welcome to Evie-Mai, Alex, and Arthur, who completed their very first parkrun ever with us today—welcome to the parkrun family!

A huge, noisy Sunny Hill round of applause goes to Cynthia, who celebrated her fabulous 100th parkrun today! Joining the 100 Club is a brilliant achievement, Cynthia—wear that t-shirt with pride!

Now, on a slightly embarrassing personal note... in all the morning excitement, I somehow completely forgot to announce that today was actually my 50th volunteering anniversary! Whoops! I suppose I was far too busy soaking up the atmosphere to remember my own milestone.

Our blackboard was bursting with visiting royalty today, with tourists joining us all the way from Cheltenham, Wiltshire (Melksham), and Bristol. We were also delighted to host runners representing visiting clubs, including:

Almost Athletes
Bristol and West AC
Ealing Eagles RC
Finchley Manor STRiders
Lonely Goat RC
Melksham CAK
Sudbury Joggers
Thank you all for making the trip to tackle our course—we hope the hills were kind to you!

It was absolute bliss catching up with everyone around the finish funnel today. It was fantastic to see Bob back in fine form, rediscovering his speedy legs and smashing through the sub-27 barrier before heading off to Cambridge to enjoy a lovely catch-up with family and friends.

We also had a delightful chat with Victor, who was looking wonderfully jolly and getting ready for a glamorous outing to see Cats at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre later!

It really is the best part of summertime at parkrun—watching people gather, share stories, and leave with big smiles.

A huge thank you to our 15 brilliant volunteers who made today's event possible:

Gemma DAVIES Run Director
Sylvia UKACHUKWU
Jo-Anne WINSTON
Thomas HAMPER
Jordan WARNER
Julie DATTA
Simon GREENFIELD
Cynthia DACILLO
Louise PRYOR
Harry HARPER-WILKINSON

Victor BRILLIANT
Penny HARPER-WILKINSON

With 88 runners, Sunny Hill competed its 304th Park run, collectively covering 1,520 km which is the equivalent of 36 marathons to date!!

Congratulations to Matt Edmonds running at Sunny Hill for the first time and setting the pace with an impressive 17:40, well done also to Jose Sabroso finishing at 20:15 and Sean Leonard also a first timer at Sunny Hill completing the course in 20:36.

A warm welcome to our 32 first timers including visitors from Ipswich, Fulham and Croydon. We hope you enjoyed your morning with us and will come back again soon!

A special well done to everyone that achieved their personal best today:

Zahra Karim, Priyesh Parikh, Lucia Yon, Claire Eadington and Thomas Hamper.

A huge thank you to our energising Run Director Sophie Webber and to our dedicated volunteers:

Marcela Greenfield, Penny Harper-Wilkinson, Philip Mayer, Charlotte Moran, Cynthia Dacillo, Gemma O Brien, Harry Haper-Wilkinson, Isaac Lyne, Jack Walker, Jim Donnet, Julie Datta, Zen Ruparell and Sylvia Ukachukwu.

And finally thank you to everyone who allowed us to capture some photos from todays event.

One of our personal favourites perfectly captures the spirit of Sunny Hill Park – a runner finishing strong, with his dog cheering him across the finish line!

Whether you run, jog or walk there’s always someone at Sunny Hill cheering you on to complete your Saturday morning 5k.

A quick barcode reminder: our scanners were looking for a missing barcode today. Thankfully, the runner returned from the café and we were able to validate their timing. So once you’ve caught your breath, please remember to scan your ID and barcode before heading off for your coffee .

Todays full results and event history can be found on the Sunny Hill parkrun results page.
