Join Incredible Edible Helston this Saturday! 💚

Join us on this Saturday

Come along to the Incredible Edible Garden at Coronation Park for a morning of gardening, chatting and community.

We’ll be meeting from 10am – 12pm and getting stuck into some garden jobs, including watering and mulching, as well as checking in on our lovely apple tree, which is fruiting!

There’ll be plenty to do and a chance to enjoy the garden, meet others and lend a hand. And, if the weather is kind… there may even be some ice lollies!

Everyone is welcome — whether you’re a keen gardener or just fancy coming along and helping out.

What a treat! 🌸 Next month, the History Club is heading out on a special field trip to Mellangoose Farm Flowers!

Join us for a guided tour with Gemma Rawlinson and discover this beautiful independent flower farm, where flowers are grown using organic practices following the natural rhythm of the seasons.

Meet at Mellangoose Farm, Sithney, Helston, TR130RS- Please car share if possible

Calling all Helston green thumbs and community heroes! Urban Ranger Becky Pack will be back at Helston Cemetery this FRIDAY from 8am-12.30pm, for a session of meadow maintenance.

You don’t need to stay for the whole session — pop in for as long as you like - every minute helps!

All equipment is provided and there will be refreshments. Please dress in sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for gardening and the weather!

Bring it along to the next Helston Repair Cafe on Sunday 2nd August.

As well as our usual repairs, we will be offering sewing machine repairs and can help with troubleshooting on uncooperative machines too!

Cornwall Climate Action Network Repair Café UK

Mining in Cornwall has left us with soils that are polluted with metals. This affects how crops grow, and harms local ecosystems and our health. Naturally occurring bacteria in our soils interact with pollution from mine waste, and might help clean it up.

Your participation in this community science project will help us all learn more about how this works. In return you’ll find out more about your soil’s bacteria, and receive a beautiful printed microscope photo of them.

Join the Waiting List – Scything Training Course 🌾

Our upcoming Scything Training Course with champion scyther Kevin Austin is now fully booked, but we’d love to hear from anyone who would like to join the waiting list in case a place becomes available.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn traditional scything techniques. Thanks to secured funding, the training is free for volunteers, with optional donations going towards a solidarity fund to help make future events accessible to everyone in our community.
