Part-Time Out-of-Hours On-Call Staff

We are a Family-Run Independent Funeral Directors looking for a reliable, compassionate and professional person to join us as a part-time member of our out-of-hours on-call team.

This is an on-call-only position. There are no daytime working hours at the moment but could be in the future for the right candidate.

The role covers 5:00pm to 8:00am weekdays and 8am to 8am Saturdays and Sundays, on a rota basis.

About the Role:

When you are on the rota, you will be available out of hours to respond when required. This will primarily involve assisting us when we are called to bring someone who has died into our care.

Calls may come from private homes, nursing and residential homes, or other locations as we act on behalf of his Majesty’s Coroner.

This is a sensitive role, and you may be meeting families during an extremely difficult time. We therefore need someone who is calm, respectful, discreet and able to conduct themselves professionally and compassionately.

The position would suit someone looking for additional part-time work who has the flexibility to be available during agreed nights and weekends.

You do not necessarily need previous experience in the funeral profession, as guidance and training will be provided.

We are looking for someone who is:

* Reliable and dependable
* Able to respond promptly when on call
* Compassionate, respectful and discreet
* Calm and professional when dealing with bereaved families
* Comfortable with the nature of working for a funeral directors
* Physically capable of assisting when bringing deceased persons into our care
* Well presented
* Happy to work nights and weekends as part of an agreed rota
* Able to work closely with a small, family-run team

A full UK driving licence is required.

People often ask was the business handed down from one generation to another. Sadly I wasn’t brought up in the business but it was what I wanted to do from being 11. So I started the business but often wondered what it would have been like back I the 1900’s if it had been an old established business. Well here we are. I think it looks good. I may not have been born into the business but I do feel I was born to be a funeral director.
