As a community event it was decided to donate the money to something of benefit to the community. Helensburgh Parish Church is also linked to John Logie Baird and supported several of our centenary events.

Community focused Festival for JLBTV100 was made possible by funding from The National Lottery and all the community pulling together.
Plus of course a small steering group led by Fiona Baker driving the project forward.

What a fantastic end to our series of talks about "My life in TV" Andrew Turnbull brought the Festival to a close with his story of how Helensburgh and JLB helped and inspired him towards a career in television.
The talk was in many ways like an episode of "This is Your Life' as the room was packed with many of those who had a hand in helping Andrew towards realising his dream to work in television production. Helensburgh offered many opportunities which Andrew made use of from Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group to URTV and West Highland Photography. He also had the vision and drive like his hero JLB to work towards his goal and not give up when others thought it might be impossible.
We had a glimpse of life behind the cameras and it certainly doesn't look easy. Thank you Andrew for sharing your journey with us, including your school project on television and the many clips from programmes and behind the scenes in the gallery.
This brings the talks to an end and we thank Helensburgh Community Hub for hosting them. Thanks to all our wonderful speakers Mike, Stewart, Ali and Andrew.
