Nosferatu is a silent German Expressionist horror film about Count Orlok, a reclusive nobleman whose plan to purchase property draws a young estate agent into a nightmarish encounter and brings plague to the agent’s hometown. Renowned for its pioneering cinematography, haunting atmosphere, and Max Schreck’s eerie, ratlike portrayal of the vampire, it is considered one of the most influential horror films ever made. Once nearly lost due to a copyright lawsuit, surviving prints cemented its legacy. Critics celebrate its artistry, chilling imagery, and lasting impact on vampire cinema.
